Loved it! Price is fair.
Great customer service, excellent breakfast, clean and modern rooms, nice view from the room, 2 min walk until the main train station - perfect to drop in or out before going to the final destination.

We had an OK stay at Pullman Dresden, but some things stood out as not really close to the Pullman standard we have seen elsewhere. The approach they have taken seemed more like a "Japanese business hotel": clean with necessities, but nothing else.

Breakfast was good both buffet and 2nd night for the room, the presentation of the food was nice. Room was clean and view is quite good. Location is very good for seeing the town and shopping, and close to the station.

Then the oddities!

1. The staff. Their English is manageable, but the customer service mind? On the day of our departure, we were woken up early in the morning by a room cleaner opening our door, and just trying to waltz into our room. Why would he try to come inside the room to clean it, when we are checking out on that day, we wondered?

We inquired, and the reception told us with no apology or regret that the cleaners do not have any check list about who left their rooms already, or who is checking out that day, unless WE go and tell the reception beforehand what time we plan to check out. So the guy will just knock and waltz in if we do not leave the Do Not Disturb sign on the door or tell him "we are in the room!" as the reception told us we needed to do to avoid this.

Fact is, we were in deep sleep, and woke up to the guy coming in much earlier than we planned to wake up. I have not seen this kind of policy anywhere else and found it really strange.

2. The room layout itself. The way the room is built (glass sliding doors for shower and toilet) the toilet echoes awkwardly. You can hear every single sound from the toilet amplified to the bed area.
The pillow provided also was very flat and needed to be folded to be a normal sized pillow or similar. Also oddly, the area at the sink is the type of flooring that becomes very slippery when you put down a towel on it, so stepping out of the shower box (which is like a Harry Houdini glass box at the center of the room) on a foot towel was like stepping on an ice skating rink.

The items provided in the room are minimal: shower cap, soap/shampoo, hair dryer.

3. Minibar that does not get cold?? When asking from reception about this, answer is "it is a minibar, not a fridge, so it does not really get very cold". Literally all items I left inside overnight were room temperature. Oddly they even advertise "You can buy stuff at our market place and fill your minibar". Why would you put the overpriced beer inside the minibar to have it become lukewarm?

Due to the basic positives that matter most (location & clenliness) we thought the stay was OK for this short time. But I am not sure if this would warrant a re-stay considering the oddities of this particular Pullman. I would maybe only recommend it for a businessman who just stays a couple nights for a business trip and just needs to sleep.

The hotel itself is quite okay. It's clean, comfy and the location is good. The staff however is appalling. They did not have our room available in time(which is a Pullman habit). The food and beverage prices are ridiculous. Furthermore, I got sick from a (over) expensive sandwich. The staff couldn't be bothered.

No sorry for the room being ready to late, no sorry for me having a sleepless night, but only an invoice for €2 something because of something unimportant.

It's a shame that the Accor hotel group is killing all it's potential in the luxury niche. They have managed to go from a great hotel in Aachen, to some kind of Ryanair-hotel. They have focused on how their hotel looks in Dresden, but seem to have forgotten about investing in capable staff.

As a German myself, I feel entitled to say this, but the Accor hotels adopted the culture greatly. Stick to 'Das Protokoll.' If anything happens not fitting in, ignore it.

good experience, excellent location, staff was polite, fair price, the room view was over the Xmas market, it was really nice. One bad point is that the room has got no mini bar, no bootle of water, you have to buy at reception

What a major disappointment! We are very familiar with the Novotel chain and sorry it is part of Pullman. It no more resembled what we expected So much wrong! Found a coffee service in the room. BUT the cups provided and spoons provided were filthily. The cups on the sink were obviously already used. The AC system, we guessed, was not in good shape. Some decorative electric blue window decoration could not be altered. BUT most of all, the place is not in the least English friendly, has become typical in the Former East.
When my German partner checked out the reception did not ask him anything about his stay. When I went outside early for a cigarette, being an American EXPAT, the reception had to walk to the door. She cold not speak minimal English. As an American Expat, I lived in Dresden for my first two years. IF, then, without a German speaking partner, I could not have survived.
We had booked breakfast. The food was fine; however, the persons cleaning the eating area was in total chaos. Tables were piled with people cleaning their own eating table and putting them nearby tables. Nothing made sense.

Room tip: Do not biook!
