Hotel looks new, decor is very modern, good location, very close to old town and the huge parking lot in front of the police station which is always full. Wifi is free for melia members but very slow to non existent. Free mini bar.

Location of the hotel is good in the rebuilt old town - Frauenkirche is just a block away. Breakfast was better than average. There was a nice surprise waiting for the kid in the baby bed. The hotel and the room was clean (or at least seemed to be, there was just one spider web in our room hanging from the roof) and modern.

But there are some minor and major complaints! Minor first... The menu of the restaurant was a bit limited at least for families with small kids, but fortunately there are many other options in the old town. One lady at the reception was also very inattentive. I stayed at front of the reception desk for a long time waiting for her attention, but she just answered calls and didn't notice me until I asked for some attention. Well, these were nothing too bad, really...

The worst things last: The internet connection was ridiculous. Free connection was really slow. A faster connection was available for a price, but I think I had already paid quite enough for the room to get a decent connection, too (and a one that that doesn't need constant logging in). But the thing that almost ruined our stay was the foul air in the room. Air was really thick and humid - you literally felt it when you came in from the corridor. The voluptuous fitted carpet hardly made it any better. You was able to adjust air condition, but only its volume and temperature, but the problem seemed to be humidity... It was almost as the if the air was coming from the spa in the basement. Fortunately you adapted to air finally, but it was uncomfortable for a while - every time you entered the room.

Without the foul air in the room I would give four points to this hotel. Now I can't, since I wouldn't choose the hotel if I visited Dresden again.

Room tip: Room 235 has foul air at least in winter

This place would have received a 4 star review if some of their staff didn't have such an attitude. Don't get me wrong... We did receive decent service... In fact, great service from the breakfast staff at the Restaurant Ven (and even for dinner!), and from Lucy at reception. Lucy was very accommodating to explain places, show us a different room and to answer any questions which we had on Dresden.

Paid a premium to upgrade our room and specifically requested for a room to not face the construction site (Note to those who are going to stay there! It's very dusty!) Lady at reception took 1 hour to process the change as she could not locate a room which faced inside instead of outside as the system "confused" her by showing her availability that wasn't there. Ended up getting a room which faced the construction site instead of the courtyard or another building. Room was crazy dusty and the AC didn't work.

Waited another 2 hours to change the room as the hotel had an influx of guests. Sigh.

Lucy was helpful to come up and process the change and thankfully we had another room for the remaining of the stay.
Housekeeping at the hotel wouldn't change the floor mats nor clear the dust bins even though we requested to make up the room. Perhaps the "tips" were not sufficient?

Had the worst experience while checking out with Sophie. Not only was she rude, she was unable to explain the invoice when there were so many different charges. She kept insisting that Charge A was tax, or Charge B was already explained to me when I checked in and it was an issue with booking.com. In the end? If she had only bothered to listen.... and see the invoice she would have realised that what she had been saying was wrong and the whole issue would have been solved earlier. She also gave us wrong directions on the map. Circling the "art gallery" and telling us that the manger was there. Made a wasted trip in the cold to that area!!! Would have been a better stay if not marred by such an awful experience at checkout

Currently here in Dresden for our short holiday we have been looking forward to all year, arriving at the hotel i was amazed by the beautiful architectural surroundings. Walked into the hotel to check in and was greeted by a young receptionist who checked us in efficiently but certainly not on a personal level. Been given a room overlooking a building site which luckily enough the double glazed windows keep out most of the sound. Room is large and clean enough albeit basic and furniture damaged. Overall not that impressed. If you're looking for a premier Inn style place then this is it, if you want luxury I'd look elsewhere

Been here several times now and the hotel is one of the best I've been in. Nice atmosphere, modern and very clean. Even if it's in the center of Dresden you feel the quietness and you can relax. Short way to most of the attractions in the center, but Dresden is much more than the center so use TripAdvisor to se what you can do :)

Room tip: The loft is a very good alternativ - two floors and the view can be great!
