We had a pre-booked Christmas Eve dinner here which we had been looking forward to for months. The meal got off to a bad start when the maître d’ gave us a filthy look because she didn’t see our surname on the booking form at first.
We were seated next to a couple who couldn’t have been more obvious in their judging if they’d tried. The woman repeatedly stared at us as though we were worse than the dirt on her shoes, simply because I have tattoos and we weren’t dressed formally. Disgusting behaviour and made for a very uncomfortable experience.
The waitress we were allocated was contemptuous in her service as it became apparent we were not going to purchase the whole five course Christmas menu, in stark contrast to the special attention she gave to the snobby couple. Lots of nasty looks and we were treated as an afterthought. We ordered the main course, which was veal with root vegetables, and a drink each, with the intention of ordering the dessert afterwards. I was given a different type of beer to what I ordered, but decided not to protest.
The veal came out and while it was nice, it was not worth the price tag, the potatoes were powdery, the meat wasn’t hot, and the serving size was barely above that of an entree.
With the combination of the food, the service and the snobby clientele making for a horrible experience, we decided to skip the dessert and walked to the counter to pay, where we were again given looks of contempt by our waitress. It was almost as though serving us was an inconvenience. At the end of the night we paid €73 for what was essentially two mediocre entree size dishes and two drinks. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
