Good value stay. The historic sights are literally only a few minutes walk away. Accommodation is of an excellent standard. Though I found the foyer a bit garish and slightly kitsch. I travelled by train so no hassles with parking etc. Make sure that you come down to breakfast in good time!! There is a cut off time!

Arrived in Dresden by train and decided to walk the 1.5 kilometres to the hotel to get a feel for the city in our first visit. The first three quarters is a continuous pedestrian shopping street - full of atmosphere, huge choices but not what we came for. Suddenly you cross a road and tram line and all changes. You enter the most beautiful and historic 'old town' filled with stunning buildings, steeped in history but always with the understanding that everything you see has had to be rebuilt to original plans since 1945.

The Amedia Plaza is ideally sited in the 'old town' on the edge of the main square full of restaurants, entertainers and opera singers. The walk to the river is three minutes which also happens to be the departure point for all the river trips. All the key sites are within five minutes of the hotel and everything can be reached on foot.

The hotel is new, modern and well appointed. The room had everything expected of a 4* including a very well appointed bathroom

The only element stopping us awarding five stars was the indifference of the young staff. None did anything wrong or failed to achieve a task but their lack of the customer touch was at odds with the wonderful service received earlier in the week in Hanover, Goslar and Leipzig. In particular we and others were left standing at reception while the receptionist continued her administrative tasks in full view of us.

Room Tip: Eat breakfast in the main square - cheaper than the hotel and better choice

Booked this hotel due to location, in reality it’s better than advertised. Everything you would need to see in the historical area is within a few minutes walk. From arrival to departure I couldn’t find a thing to complain about. The front desk staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Room clean WiFi fast staffs friendly what more could you need. If we revisit we would stay there again as first choice. Thanks you made our trip perfect.

Stayed for 6 nights in September, occupying 2 rooms. Had medical problems on my return home, hence the delay in creating this review.

First the good points. Hotel is new, cheaply priced and located in a great central location. This will be sufficient reason for most people to book this hotel.

The downside. I was reminded of the old saying. "I would run a great hotel if it was not for the guests"

Our problems started on arrival. Had booked 6 weeks in advance and requested a car space in the hotel garage. Was told at reception that car spaces could not be reserved. ( why is this the case). That seemed to be the end of that topic for the receptionist. When pressed on where we might park, she got a guide book and marked on the map how to get to the nearest car parks. The problem was that the area covered in the map was barely the size of a postage stamp and very hard to follow. Consequently we had a lot of difficulty locating the car park. Turning away cars that expected to use the hotel park must be a common occurrence, so why not provide an A4 size drawing that clearly shows roads and landmarks. One can only presume that they do not care.

Had booked 2 rooms. A single and a suite. Booked a suite because they have a kitchenette that would enable us to have breakfast in house.

Saw the same receptionist. When advised that there was no kitchenette in the suite, she replied that only half the suites had them and the fault lay with the booking agency. That seemed to be the end of the conversation from her viewpoint. When asked if there was a possibility of switching rooms she looked up the occupancy and said that all suite rooms were occupied. When i stated that I would require a partial refund, she looked surprised and said that she would note it.

The following day, asked at reception what was happening. Obviously nothing. The day after got the same response but was over heard by the Supervisor. This was a lucky break as she proved to be excellent and over the next two days organised a refund that we both considered fair. I believe her name was Daniela Fischer. Thank you Daniela for being a shining light in a public relations desert.

Mentioning deserts, the large suite room resembled one. A large space with minimal furnishing of a poor quality and a TV.

I have gone to some length to describe our difficulties in the hope that it may help others avoid them.

PS The Chris restaurant is only 80 m away with plenty of seating both in and out and provides a very large and extensive breakfast buffet at half the price of the hotel.

The location is just perfect, that is the main attraction of this hotel. Other than that, the rooms, services and breakfast are all propotional to the price so it's very well worth the premium price tag
