Enjoyed our 3 nights here in Bremen. Very basic room and what you would expect from a typical youth hostel. But the staff were extremely helpful and friendly with information about the city and how to get around. My laundry got stuck in the dryer... >< but they saved the day and got it out for me. Our room had a beautiful view!!! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

This hostel is far to expensive for the level of service that you receive, especially after Germanys decision to put refugees in hostels. Need to lower the price, definitely do not stay if you like to be awoken at the middle of the night. There is many refugees staying here and their kids have nothing to do so they just play and run in the halls, couldn't use the elevator because the kids were messing with it and it would always skip my floor. The kids would knock on my door at 10pm and run away, not a good experience

Room Tip: Avoid private rooms or you will be on the same floor as the Refugees

This is a Youth Hostel with hotel prices - watch out for normal Hotels, there are cheaper one than this - good location on the river and in the city center - no parking - pay attention on Thursdays the food is vegetarian only - poor choice for breakfast and dinner - only 1 vegetarian or 1 meat dish

Room Tip: Room with a view on the river

Stayed here for one night in September 2014 with my partner and son.

A good location for a family visit to Bremen. The hostel is right on the river front, a short walk or cycle ride from the city centre. There are cafes, beer gardens and bars minutes away, but not too close to be noisy.

We had a large family room (4 bunks) on the top floor in the newish extension. This was ideal for our needs, with en suite bathroom and cot provided. Our area of the hostel was nice and peaceful.

Elsewhere in the hostel, there's a roof terrace and games room with vending machines. The reception area sells beers and coffee. All theae areas were pretty quiet during our stay.

We took breakfast the next day, which was fine - typical buffet fare. One problem was the sheer nunber of large groups staying at the hostel, who all arrived for breakfast at once and caused huge queues. This could have been better managed.

One note if you're arriving by car - there is limited on street parking available and ths hostel can provide a permit for overnight parking. However this expires at 8am next day and they can't let yoy have an additional permit for day of departure. So be prepared to leave early, or else nip out and put extra time on via pay and display. We left our car with bikes on a rack overnight and they were fine, which suggests the area is quite secure.

All in all, a good location and clean, functional rooms makes this a good base for a family visit to Bremen.

Although the rooms and common areas were clean and it had one of the best breakfasts I had in Germany, this place that advertises itself as a hostel, is really lacking in many of the things that make a hostel a hostel. It was quite pricy- extra charges for linens and if you are not a member of HI. There is absolutely no atmosphere either and no self catering kitchen. The entire building felt rather large and impersonal to me on the whole. Unless I was in a bind, I wouldn't stay here again.
