The beer is nice and the Schnoor is so amazing with the little shops in there !

The historic old town centre of Bremen is absolutely gorgeous and is a lovely area for just wandering around, hanging out with a beer or a coffee on a terrace (maybe not in February admittedly) and just soaking up the atmosphere. The area around the Dom (cathedral) and the Rathaus (town hall) and the square opposite where Roland the Giant lives, is particularly fine but I recommend to head down the narrow Boetcherstrasse too for some beautiful architecture and quirky features.

A visit to the Rathausplatz (city square) is a MUST when visiting this city. Don't forget to study the statue of Roland which was erected in 1404.

We had 5-6 hours to kill in Bremen between arriving in a Flix bus and flying out to UK. We arrived at the train station and found it an easy walk from the station to the old part. The old center is over 1000 years old and very well preserved. We were there with Christmas markets and that gave a great atmosphere although it was cold.

Lots to see around the market place in the Bremen Altstadt - the town hall, the cathedral, the statue of Roland, Bottcherstrasse, the Schnoor Viertel and the Bremen musicians. Close by the main shopping area too.
