We did the Famous Walk from the East side with Jamie and it was great to have someone with such knowledge of Berlin. Doing the walk gave us a good appreciation of the city and higlighted the main sights that we have been able to go back to in our own time. Excellent value for the amount of time spent - you did not feel rushed and Jamie was very willing to answer questions and share the vast amount of information he has. Thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you Ashleigh for a superb and informative tour of the wonderful city that is Berlin. Your passion fuelled by your knowledge made for a first class experience! We can totally recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city, we found out things that guide books simply don't explain. Thanks again! Ash, Carl, Rachel, Kevin and little Elias! :-)

The only way to see Berlin is on foot. We had a hot breakfast at the station before joining CARLOS and the rest of the group for a fantastic day. We learnt sooo much. We will definitly be taking one of their other tours before long.

Many thanks to Jim for this superb walk. He was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and inspirational. I was very grateful for this tour and I learned so much. If anyone should consult me regarding any future visits they may be taking in Berlin, I would recommend Berlin Walks.

We took the 4 hour morning Discover Berlin walk with our guide Ashleigh. The trip started at the meeting place near the Zoological Gardens U-Bahn station. A short 5 stop train ride took us to the heart of the historic East at Hackescher Markt where we met up with a few more souls making the total number in the group around 20. We crossed to Museum Island where we saw all the museums and churches, over to LindenStrasse, Humboldt University and the famous site of the book burning in May 1933, We walked across FriedrichStrasse to the Brandenburg Gate passing the Russian, British, American and French Embassies (including the famous Adlon Hotel where Michael Jackson momentarily suspended his child from a window), We walked trough the Holocaust Memorial (very moving) down to Checkpoint Charlie (very tacky now), back up FreidrichStrasse ending up at Gendarmen Markt. It sounds like a really big walk, but Ashleigh paced us beautifully so we really didn't feel as if we were walking that far.
This list of attractions only tells a part of the trip. We were informed about all sorts of historical detail, we were entertained by amusing stories about places, events and people and Ashleigh fielded all sorts of questions, all of which she answered with accuracy and authority. There was on moment of dissent from one of our group and she dealt with that beautifully. It could have ruined it for everyone, but she didn't let it happen.
If you do nothing else in Berlin, take this walk. 4 hours (actually it was nearer to 5 by the time we finished) might sound like hard work. But it is really worth it because you get such an informed perspective on 20th century German history - in fact the whole of 20th century European history is in Berlin.
I can also thoroughly recommend Ashleigh who had a really lovely delivery style, a brilliant dry sense of humour and a peerless knowledge of her subject.
