“One of the best hotels”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

This is one of the best hotels i have ever been to.
very helpful staff, well maintained, very good rooms, great location, good breakfast and nice afternoon snacks (if you take the Club rooms which I recommend!)

Room Tip: Upgrade to Club, its well worth the extra Euros.

Just arrived home today from a very tiring, very hot first trip to Berlin. Can't fault the hotel, breakfast was amazing (served until 12 at weekends which meant a long lie was possible!), staff were very helpful, the concierge gave us some brilliant info on travelling in Berlin, how to get back to airport etc. Leisure facilities were to a very high standard. Did have a slight issue with our air conditioning, not realising if our room window was open at all, the air con didn't work! Overall, Berlin was a very confusing tiring city but if i was returning, I wouldn't look at any other hotel!

Big, modern, good-looking hotel to the west of Berlin City centre with an entrance situated just off the wide Kurfurstendamm thoroughfare. Umpteen receding storeys high with over 300 rooms in a massive, yet architecturally attractive, flat wedge shape. It did make you do kind of wonder how impersonal it might be. Quite the reverse; we couldn't have been afforded a warmer, friendlier welcome - which was the same throughout our stay. All the staff we met, be they on reception, at breakfast, in the bar, servicing rooms or even dealing with maintenance issues, were models of courtesy and efficiency - and clearly well-focussed in dealing with customer relations whatever their role.

We stayed in a Deluxe Junior Suite on the 3rd floor, at the end of the cheerfully stripy-carpeted main corridor, and quite a hike from the lift area. The room itself was certainly generous in size, with a clear delineation between the lounge and bedroom area - big wooden separators available if required. The lounge area, again with a familiarly jolly stripy carpet, had all the usual stuff viz. sitting area, work station with free and easily accessible internet plus well stocked minibar and a widescreen digital TV. The bedroom area had a big, firm, comfy, queen-sized bed with two separate duvets, and another TV positioned at the foot. Close by, there was plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space with ample hangers and a concealed, easy-to operate, hidden safe.

The well- ventilated bathroom was gleamingly bright and spotless. Double sinks were embedded in a wide top below a large wallsized mirror. The hairdryer worked perfectly and there was a reasonable array of appropriate freebies. The bath opposite was like a shrine to cleanliness - the whole area totally pristine. Loo and a wet room shower were also to hand; all efficient with the latter well tiled and drained. Rather strangely, the wetroom would have seemed better designed for a rainforest shower head, but instead had (a very effective) more utilitarian equivalent. About the only thing my wife could adversely comment upon throughout our stay was that the bath towels were, in fact, bath sheets, and should have been bigger and fluffier!

So we were very happy with the room. Perfectly ventilated with simple thermostats and well soundproofed too, although we were overlooking a quiet side street with not a lot of night time throughput.

Elsewhere in the hotel, breakfast was a fab spread on the 1st Floor, with just about everything you could think of being available. There was a chef on hand who was happy to do waffles, pancakes, crepes and omelettes upon demand - and I can certainly commend the perfection of the pancakes which he then served at the table! The seating area was a bit jammed but once the inevitable corporate traffic had gone there was plenty of room for the non-suits

Of course, I had to try the bar - well -stocked and efficiently run with a sliver of space for drinkers adjacent to the more comfortable, spacious lounge area. After a few nights of local restaurants, we decided to give the bar menu a try - pleased to report that the steak frites were totally spot on, and extremely generous on the frites front!

Outside the hotel, the metro was only a couple of minutes walk away. Ticket machines translated to English and were easy to use- remember to use the validators before boarding the train. When we arrived in the hotel on our first day at 10.00, the nice girls and Concierge in Reception were happy to keep our bags whilst we spent our first few hours at the nearby zoo. On the way was the Breitscheidplatz square, full of sausage and beer stands - great! There are plenty of places to eat, of varying tastes and standards, in the vicinity. We liked the traditional German restaurant/bar round the corner - turn right leaving the hotel, then first left and about 100 yds to your left.

Berlin's a great place with loads to do see and do - you'll certainly never get bored. Be forewarned, though, as Berliners do like to crank up the heat in enclosed public areas - all attractions bask in a tropical climate, so park your coat in the cloakroom if you can. The hotel is away from the central action, but transport is easy so don't be deterred.

So I'm pleased to report that I can give a glowing endorsement, and a hearty recommendation to anyone who may be considering this big, friendly, efficient 5-star experience away from the City centre hurly burly. Well done, the Concorde.

This hotel is really exceptional! Beautiful spacy rooms. All the extras that a hotel can offer! The breakfast and all areas are absolutely amazing! The staff in the entrance are dressed a little funny but they are very very friendly. It is an expensive hotel but it's worth every penny!

This is a very pleasant hotel to stay in in Berlin. The rooms ooze luxury with great bathrooms too. The breakfast choice is one of the best I've ever come across, you name it, and I think you'll find they've got it. All beautifully cooked too. The lunch I had here was also superb - simply fabulous food. The hotel is well located near public transport and shopping places. It looks like a concrete 60/70s building from the outside, but don't be put off, rest and relaxation and great service greet you inside. The one draw back for such a good hotel is that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which was a pity.
