This is not a museum, nor an impressive memorial, yet, its quiet simplicity is powerful.
A short walk from the Grunewald train station is the site from which trains on a daily basis deported tens of tousands of Jews to death camps. The dates and numbers are cast in iron along the railway.

Very easy to find. Very easy to visit. But will stay with you for a long time......Grünewald S-7 train station, just follow the signs. You can buy flowers to bring, right by the station.

We thought we'd go for 15-20 minutes just to see the site, but ended up spending more than an hour walking around, taking pictures. Eerie experience, and a peaceful get away from Berlin's city chaos. Definitely recommended.

Gleis 17 is not a big iconic memorial like the one in the city center. At the original platform where the trains that deported Jews left, is indicated along the track on what dates trains left and how many Jews were on that train. The combination of date - number of Jews - destination is brutal in its simplicity.

Next to the normal train "Gleis", you can find the Gleis 17. You will see pro day, the number of "Juden" which have been sent to the camp.. It is really impressive
