The Victor Resident hotel in Tegel, Berlin, is functional if very basic. There is a cupboard which contains a teeny weeny kitchen, microwave, fridge, 2 ring cooker and sink. Amazing how they fitted it into a tiny space. However, There are no utensils or cooking implements (not even a kettle) which you can apparently ask the reception to provide. The twin room was clean. The TV only has German channels and the wifi drops like a stone (you can pay for high speed). Breakfast is plentiful and the coffee is good. Self service, with cold and hot choices. Useful for the airport. Transport links in Berlin are really good.

Room tip: Go for the 6th (top floor) as there is a very busy road nearby, you are also on the flight path.

The rooms are very worn. And from 5 o'clock an airplane is thundering over the hotel every 60 seconds. On the other hand the hotel is conveniently located. For one or two nights ok we paid 53 Euros for bed and breakfast. Not bad. Probably I would take the next Berlintrip a somewhat quieter hotel. They could really pay more attention to cleanliness. Also the feather bed had brown spots which is disgusting.

Our first impression was that the furniture was a little tired. The room was adequate though and a reasonable size. The reception staff speak excellent English and were very helpful. The breakfasts were excellent with plenty of choice, including cooked breakfast. The rooms don't have kettles (a German thing) but there was a microwave and sink in the kitchenette. We found the easiest way to get around was to use the metro, it's just like the London underground. The station was about 5-10 minute walk away and there was a fantastic Christmas Market and shopping centre at Alexanderplatz which is about 6 stops away on the metro. There is also a fantastic restaurant 1 min walk from the hotel that is open all day. It is an Italian restaurant but they do German food as well and is reasonably priced.

Stepped into lobby after a long flight, was ignored by the guy behind the counter...than the fire alarm sounded, all hell broke lose. 30 minutes later I was in a room with a broken window...changed the room... heard women in high heels going in and out almost all night...hookers? Never again.
The location is far from any activity in berlin...

Victor's is a short cab or bus ride on #128 from the Berlin Tegel Airport. It's located in a residential neighborhood. You are a few blocks from the metro/underground for a trip into central Berlin. The only real noise is the occasional planes from the airport.
The breakfast buffet is quite good from cereals, yogurt, breads, cheese and cold cuts, to bacon, sausage and eggs.
