My family stayed at the Regent in July. The staff were excellent throughout the hotel and even helped us in some unusual circumstances where my daughter fell ill. The hotel is of a very high standard and the rooms were large and beautiful. The service standard is simply wonderful.

We had a rate with breakfast included and this meal was outstanding in quality and again outstanding in service.

We stayed two nights at the Regent which is a lovely 5-star hotel in central Berlin. We booked a great deal via website WhataHotel. The were upgraded on arrival to a fantastic room overlooking the Gendarmenmarkt which had a balcony. The staff at the hotel could not be faulted nor could the breakfast which we had in the dining room one morning and in the room the next. I would highly recommend this hotel and recomment checking out the rates/deals on offer via WhataHotel. We will definatley use both again when we plan our return trip to Berlin. This hotel made our holiday perfect.

Room Tip: We had room 624 - overlooking the Gendarmenmarkt with a small balcony. No noise issued whatsoever.

This is an excellent hotel - luxurious, classic design, excellent service and lovely rooms. We stayed for three nights. The location is brilliant (former East Berlin) - within walking distance of historic WW2 sights, shops and beautiful architecture and cafes (and the Mercdes-Benz Shop). The service was supurb. Breakfasts were included in our room rate - buffet plus fresh cooked hot food (try the blueberry and maple syrup pancakes). Free DVDs and free business centre. The rooms were luxurious, comfortable and quiet, with a beautiful bathroom.

We stayed at the Regent after being overbooked at the hotel we originally booked. Upon arrival the check in staff where were professional and helpful. The concierge took us thorugh the practicalities of the hotel in a very friendly way. The hotel is very opulent and the rooms very big. The bathroom is one of the largest I have come across on my travels.

There isn't anything you couldn't get in this hotel. There are dvd's you can borrow, pillow menu's, robes, slippers, comfy chairs, bureau, large wide screen TV, turn down service, room service and the breakfast is well worth the money, it was gorgeous.

Drinks at the hotel are very expensive at 14 euro for a rose wine and 7 euro for a small glass of beer, but given the standard of this hotel this is not surprising.

The location is great, it's very near Alexanderplatz and a number of monuments. You can get a bus straight to the hotel from Tegel airport which takes about 40 mins and cost 2,30 euro for a single ticket. It's also near the zoo. We walked it, but it is a few kilometres, but almost any bus takes you straight there. The zoo is well worth visiting.

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: We had room 720 which had a great view of the local square with some monuments and bars and restaura...

Dear wiffy0,

obviously it was fortune that brought you to our hotel and we were more than delighted having you as our guests. It is great to hear that you did enjoy your time at the Regent Berlin very much and that there was nothing missing.

And amazingly you are the first one mentioning our famous zoo. You are absolutely right - it is well worth visiting!

We are looking forward to your next stay with us and cannot wait to welcome you again.

With best regards from sunny Berlin,

Your team of the Regent Berlin

It is a very good 5-star hotel, with a very professional high-quality service; but is that all there is?

There is nothing special about the location; there are numerous hotels in the vicinity. If your room is on the street side, there is significant traffic noise; if your room is on the back side, there is disturbing smell from the kitchen of the restaurant next door. So, not a place where you can leave the windows open. I know many people are just content with isolated, fully air-conditioned rooms, but there are also many people like me who would enjoy an occasional fresh air from the window or balcony. I must say the ventilation system of the room is high quality and very silent. Actually, the only complaint about the room itself would be the fact that the door is not isolated against noise from the corridor. You can literally see people walking in the corridor from under the door!

Breakfast was also disappointing with its strictly limited choice of options. Thus, I did not fall in love with this hotel and I think it is overrated, exactly like its famous restaurant.

Dear akliselim,

thank you very much for your honest opinion on the occasion of your stay at the Regent Berlin as well as your experience in our 2-Michelin-starred restaurant "Fischers Fritz".

It is with deep regret that we could not convince you of our hotel and all it´s great pleasantness.

We certainly are located right in the middle of Berlin´s eastern center which makes our surrounding partly noisy. In this case we are always delighted to offer a room on a higher floor which allows the guest to enjoy quiet and relaxation. According to that we do not have to automatically assign a room facing the courtyard regarding the sometimes coming up kitchen smell from the restaurant next door.

It is too sad that you did not like the à la carte breakfast in our restaurant. Of course the first set up brought to you by the table is just a small selection of cold meat, cheese and jam. But as it says on the menu there is more to come while ordering your favorites with the waiter. And the variety is nearly endless.

Hopefully we do have the chance to welcome you for a second time. That would be the best option to rectify your first impression on us and lets you enjoy the Regent experience.

With best regards from Berlin,

Your team of the Regent Berlin
