Don Camillo is an Italian restaurant located in West Berlin, about 10 minute walk from the Charlottenburg Palace. It offers seating inside but also has a very nice patio outside where they serve in the summer.
There are many Italian restaurants in Berlin and Don Camillo is certainly one of the better ones. What is particularly unique about Don Camillo is that a big part of the service is done table side.
There is no printed menu -- or at least I never saw one when I was there (which was about half a dozen times over the past years). They might have one in the back somewhere. Instead the ingredients are presented and you can then decide how to get them cooked. Some dishes are actually prepared table side as well, including several of their main courses and deserts.
This makes for a very interesting and interactive dining experience overall. It feels a bit like a throw-back in the 80s but I personally enjoy this a lot from time to time. The only downside is that it's difficult to predict what the final bill will be. I think the restaurant offers some prices on their webpage but not all dishes are listed and since there are a lot of options to customize the prices are likely to change anyway. This makes Don Camillo probably slightly more expensive than other Italian restaurants, but it's certainly worth it.
Overall I would recommend Don Camillo if you happen to be in the area and are looking for an upscale place to have dinner or lunch. I go there regularly and I plan to return in future.
