I am pretty well travelled, but still have to say that Rothenburg is of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited.
The location of the hotel is marvellous, just outside of the city gates and around a 5-10 minute walk to the famous town square.
So the nuts and bolts of the hotel
It is a small friendly hotel, which seems to be run by its owners, who are very friendly and speak some English. The rooms are well furnished, beds are comfortable, althought the TV in room 1 - our twin room was very small. Our room had two single beds, a wardrobe, table with two chairs and a couple of units. The room was in good condition.
The bathroom was relatively modern, with a bath and shower although the shower was fiddly to use as it was width ways in the bath.
I had two issues with the room. There is no air conditioning, totally understandable in a small hotel, but a little uncomfortable on the very hot nights we stayed. Also the pillows were thin and flimsy and we only got one each and whilst the bed tilted, an extra thicker pillow would have welcome.
Breakfast was fine and typical of the region with a mix of breads, meats, cheeses and fresh fruit.
Wifi was free throughout the city - it was pretty slow in this hotel
The owners were friendly and helpfulMore
