This was our 2nd visit to the Admiral, the 1st was in 2009. There were 3 of us each time.

Rooms: Both times we had the top floor suite which consisted of 2 rooms and 2 baths, all good sized. They are not modern by US standards but they are clean have everything we needed. The only drawback this time was the lack of A/C which made sleeping difficuly as there was no relief, even with the ceiling fans running. They no longer provide the free mini bar drinks, you must pay for them now.

Service: The owner is pleasant enough if you speak to him and Mrs. Frank (I think this is her correct name) is a very nice lady. The rest of the reception desk and breakfast room staff were curt but efficient. Mrs. Frank brought me ice and a washcloth when she saw that I had banged up my leg (no, not in the hotel). And she had a smile when we returned from sightseeing.

Breakfast: Fantastic is all I can say about this breakfast which the 3 of us rated as the best during our vacation. There were a good assortment of cheeses, meats, breads and pastries, cereals, yogurts, and wonderful fruit. What made it even better was the beautiful outdoor garden where breakfast is served with fresh linens, flowers and plants on the tables. We had a bottle of wine out there also, just heavenly.

Overall: We'd return here but not in the summer. maybe the lower floors are not as hot???

Dear unn,

thank you so very much for you very kind review. I have been so glad seeeing you again after years, but perhabs I was a little bit shy. Angie Frank did much better, she is a very good friend of mine and the nicest person I have ever met. I am also very sorry for the lack of A/C, probably for your next stay we will be better prepared.

Warmest regards

Kevin

The Admiral Hotel in Munich offers a quiet respite from throngs of tourists. It is on a small side street, well located for public transportation or walking to museums and restaurants.

Our room faced the rear garden. The room was nicely sized and furnished comfortably. There is one lift but given the number of guest rooms, perfectly adequate.

The Admiral is not air conditioned. Generally, this presents no problem. However, we came into a mini-heat wave and were grateful we had breezes from the garden coming into the room.

The breakfasts are generous and thoughtfully prepared. We sat in the beautiful garden in the early mornings gobbling up fresh fruit, baked goods, wonderful capaccinos, with cheeses, meats, and various salads also available.

One caveat - the carpet in the room was stained and while it has been cleaned, the stains remain. It needs to be replaced. This is a very minor issue!

Hotel personnel were helpful and friendly.

We really loved being at the Admiral and will return.

Carol

Just several blocks from the market in the altstadt, the Admiral is a handy and peaceful retreat. All the wonderful historic sites are a comfortable walk away. Our street side room was cozy, bright, and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was a delight! What a surprise to have a beautifully set table in a lovely garden hidden away in the middle of the city. The breakfast buffet was artistically presented - berries, fruit, pastry, bread, yogurt, juices, coffees, teas, etc. The well thought out "little" details make the Admiral it an above average choice in this price range. Also, if you are somewhat adventurous, there is on site parking.

Room Tip: Our front room with a big window was bright and cheerful Rear rooms have a garden view and some have...

The hotel Admiral was a charming hotel with excellent service and a delicious breakfast. It was conveniently located
( walking distance) to the center of town. From the chocolates on our pillows each night, to the exceptional courtyard breakfast, you were well taken care of. The breakfast is included in your price and should not be missed - fresh fruits, delicious rolls, cheeses and meats it was just delicious. The staff even set it up early in our last day as we had a very early flight. A perfect place to stay when visiting Munich! One note: the rooms are not air conditioned but ours had a ceiling fan and two large windows to allow a nice breeze in. Don't let that deter you if you are looking for a beautiful hotel.

Hotel Admiral is in a great location within walking distance of the old town. It is also located opposite a business building with a green treed area at the front. We had a front room but did not find any objectionable noise. As another reviewer said, there is a bar/restaurant a few doors away and that could cause some noise but didn't while we were there (Sunday/Monday). The building is not air conditioned but we were able to open the windows for a cooling breeze.

The breakfast is fantastic with lots of fresh fruit and berries as well as the usual cerials and bread. The breakfast area is beautiful and overlooks a beautiful, secluded and quiet back garden. There is also a lovely sitting area.

The staff are very helpful and friendly and there is a private phone box for free local calls.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back for complete quiet but the front rooms are fine too.
