This hotel has clearly been refurbished recently to a high standard. The rooms are spacious, stylish, warm and welcoming with excellent bathrooms. I had asked for a standard single room and I was given an enormous double room with a huge bathroom. There was a large flat screen television, mini bar and and plenty of nice things in the bathroom. My friend had a similar room and was delighted with it. The rooms were extremely quiet and overlooking the central area. The beds were new and very comfortable. The reception area/foyer on the ground floor was bright, beautiful and spacious open plan with a very comfortable bar area and small tables lit by candles in the evening. This leads onto another area where light meals are available. The reception service was erratic as it also had to serve the bar area and there was no apparent manager around to ensure both areas were manned efficiently at all times. The reception/bar staff could also profit from more training. The breakfast was very good and the staff managing this were efficient and smiling.
I would definitely look forward to staying at this hotel again. It is true that the street scene outside is not great and there are a lot of beggars but we were never accosted directly by anybody and never felt in danger.More
