Our 3 night stay at the Rheinischer Hof was great. Freindly welcome on arrival, clean room, big bed and great views of the mountains. Plus it's only a 10 minute walk to Garmish main pedestrian zone, 15 minutes drive to Eibsee/ Zugspitze cog week train and 10 mins drive to the Olympiaschanze.

Our entire experience in this hotel was wonderful. From the first glance of the façade of the hotel to our (reluctant) departure. I took more time with the receptionist that necessary because we embarked on a philosophical discussion while checking in, an indication of the excellent (and accent-free) English of the person behind the desk. Our room in this wonderful hotel had been tastefully redecorated with a mountain motif and featured a separate sitting area and a balcony. The bathroom featured a full bath that was very welcome on a cold and rainy day. Nice touches all around: when we went for breakfast next morning (an excellent buffet breakfast) our table had been reserved with our names on a place card. A variety of coffees was available from various coffee machines but, to me, was most impressive was a machine that produced freshly squeezed orange juice from oranges. Watching this machine was a treat by itself. Ample parking in front and one the side of the hotel and the wifi signal was very strong. We were given day passes for the G-P public transit system, although we didn’t use them as the town is ideal for walking (even in the rain). I highly recommend this hotel and hope to return someday.

Hey there,

and thanks for the nice review :-)

The bloke at the desk was most certainly me -> I get "sidetracked" quite easily ;-) Love those conversations, though, it is probably the best part of this job.

That orange juice machine is quite impressive, isn't it? It squeezes app. 6-7 tons of oranges a year for our breakfast buffet, just as a fun fact :-)

Looking forward to seeing you again sometimes!

This hotel went above and beyond to make sure my wife and I had a great stay in Garmisch. My wife had going to the top of the Zugspitze on her bucket list. The young lady at the front desk told us that Thursday of that week would be the best day weather wise, She also said to get on the first bus to the Zugspitze Bahn Hof. We took all of her recommendations and there was no doubt she knew what she was talking about. There were only 12 people on the train going to the top of the Zugspitze. The sunrise was fantastic. By the time we started back down the next two trains had at least 75 people each on them.
In the restaurant, John and Madiha took excellent care of us. John wanted to make sure that we always satisfied with our food, He made many recommendations that all worked out well. I suggest the Lamb. Madiha is an excellent waitress. She always had the biggest smile and the "Is there anything that I can do for you" attitude. Somir is a waiter who once again wante to make sure he did everything he could to make dinning a pleasure.
Andreas always went above and beyond. He answered all of our questions. He gave us great advice and even made us a cup of coffee on two occasions.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It will be used by this family again.

Room Tip: All rooms are worth the price. They are very roomy but if possible ask for a room with a balconey.

This was our second stay at the Rheinischer Hof, at was even better than the first. This family operated hotel is rated very high and it truly earns its high rating. This trip was with our son and his family. The rooms are cozy, and the bed headboards are outlines of the view outside the windows. The balconies are great too, with a view that pictures don't do justice. The breakfast is a treat as well; true Bavarian style, but standard eggs, bacon, etc. for those who want American/UK style. My wife wasn't a big fan of the frosted glass door to the bathroom; I don't really understand that either, but not a big deal. I really can't say enough good things about this hotel. If we are fortunate enough to return to Garmisch, we'll stay here again.

Dear John,

thanks for the nice review, can't ask for better :-)

As for the frosted glass doors: the idea was to make the bathroom more "light", to let some light in as well as make it feel bigger. You can't really make out anything, more like shadows -> but I do get what you are saying. We are right now looking into a new technology, where you can have a clear glass door and when you turn the lock, it will go completely opaque. Your comment reaffirms my feeling that this would be a good investment :-)

Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you again soon!

We did enjoy our stay here at this hotel! The bed was comfy and everything here met our expectations, including its cleanliness. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Breakfast was good with a good selection of food and drinks. The restaurant on site was wonderful and we did enjoy our dinner there as well. It's very convenient to travel from the hotel to the city center on foot and/or by a public bus. It's approximately a 10-minute drive to the Eibsee Station if you'd like to do a day trip to the Zugspitze, and you actually can purchase a ticket at the Reception. Overall, we'd stay here again for our next visit in Garmisch P. Highly recommended as it's a good value for money!

Dear Ning,

thanks for the review; I guess that is all a hotel can ask for :-)

We would love to have you back next time you visit the Bavarian alps!
