The schnitzel/fries, potato soup , and crepe with cherries were all good. The service was great as well. It was worth the trip.

We have eaten here many times over the years, at lunchtime and in the evenings.
The restaurant is large, divided into various sections. We have eaten in the older, comfier, more traditional German section and a modern, open, airy section – there are others. The restaurant is often very quiet, the hotel residents must eat at different time from us.
Each time we go we love the food on offer, from traditional ‘wildgericht’ (game dishes) to modern food. We always eat the game dishes in winter, they are delicious, rich and very filling. This last time we ate Hirshkalbsbraten ‘Hubertus’ (posh vension casserole), and wildhasenkeule Wacholderrahm (creamy Hare casserole). One does not need starter or dessert after their man courses! I tried two different wines, one white, one red; husband the hefeweizen (wheat beer), which he loves. The bill came to €56 which we thought was very reasonable for this sort of establishment. A very knowledgeable waiter made the evening complete. All the waiting staff speak English, but will speak in German to folk like me who make the effort to speak the language.
I would definitely make this a must-do whilst in Oberammergau.

We ducked into this restaurant on a rainy afternoon in Oberammergau and found it pretty much deserted. We were delighted to find the service wonderful - friendly and helpful. It appears to be family run and when I asked one of the people who worked there if the clock shop I had been to 16 years ago was still there, she stopped and took time to answer and chat. The meal was quite good as well. We had several menu items, including the turkey cutlet and Wiener Schnitzel, and everything was delicious. As we ate, the restaurant filled up and we know why. Great place to eat in Oberammergau!

Dinner at Restaurant Uhrmacher with 60 plus co-workers. The staff was very friendly and met you at the door to take your drink order. Dinner was a huge buffet, many salads, side dishes, main courses from fish to beef to pork, and a desert bar. Very reasonably priced. This is a very nice restaurant for couples, groups and with friends.
