“Wonderful view of castle above Baden-Baden”
Reviewed 29 July 2011

After strolling through the town of Baden-Baden on a quiet Sunday evening(towns in Europe actually take the time to close their stores for a day of rest, but restaurants are open), we made our way to Hotel Tannenhof which is on a hill on the outskirts of main Baden-Baden. We were greeted with courtesy by the hotel clerk who handled our reservation with ease.
Our room was on the first floor(not ground level mind you) and an elevator was available. Entering our room, the decor was simple, the had a roll away for our daughter already made. Every room had their own balcony which looked out to the Black Forest and a chateau was seen from our room as well. It was quiet, serene and since it was a cooler July evening the air was crisp and refreshing.
For my daughter and myself, the beds were a little too firm, but my husband slept very well and didn't mind it at all. This hotel had THE BEST shower head and soaker tub of our whole trip, I could've stayed in it all day, seriously!
We made our way to breakfast and was greeted by Susan who is the daughter of the owners. This is a family owned hotel and they were so personable. The buffet was not just a typical european breakfast of cheese and bread, on top of that they had salmon, fruit, yogurt,4 types of cereal(muesli was AWESOME!) bacon, eggs, sausage, 3 types of juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate made at their espresso bar. The breakfast area is so inviting and nicely decorated, the bar was probably a nice gathering area for an apertif the night before.
We look forward to returning to the black forest area and staying at Hotel Tannenhof on a night other than Sunday so we can enjoy the town as well.
The park at the bottom of the hill from the hotel that runs through the town is GORGEOUS! Worth a walk through if you are in town! Don't miss it!

The wife and I had a free weekend to burn and traveled to the Baden-Baden area for one night. This was a pretty little hotel on top of a hill on the south west side of B-B. The staff were very friendly and went out of thier way to make sure you had what you needed for a pleasant stay. Also, they were helpful when asking about and where the tourist attractions are. The room we stayed in was a 'standard double' which was Euro114. It was small, but clean and well kept. It had its own bathroom with shower, and just the basic furnishings. Not that it mattered, because you dont spend time in your room anyway - too much to get out and see. The price of the room includes a free breakfast in the little cafe ajoining the lobby. They had a bigger selection than I expected - the normal cold cuts, cheeses and bread, but also a wide range of cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, ham and even smoked salmon - and of course juices, milk and coffee. Yum!
Only down side to this little gem was that its not close to the pedestrian zone/ main attractions. Meaning you probably dont want to walk, however its a short drive or cab ride to these places (5 mins), and parking is surprisingly easy to find.
Over all, I was pleased with this Hotel and would recomend it to anyone looking for an affordable option in visiting Baden-Baden.
