“Not A Real Hotel”
Reviewed 27 April 2012

I stayed at Batschari Suites in April 2012. And while there were some positives, it is not a real "hotel". This is a building with small apartments. Some are privately owned, some are owned by the company that is called Batschari Suites. How do I know that? First, on the way to my room, I saw "for sale" signs on some of the flats. Second, the elevator (there was only one) was broken during my stay. When I complained about this to the girl at the small lobby, she said, "it is not the hotel's fault, it is the fault of the owner of the building." Thus i understood that the hotel does not own the building, it simply owns some of the rooms and rents them out to guests.

So what? The problem is that this is really not a professionally run hotel. Some of the people at the reservations desk are very unfriendly and unhelpful and obviously untrained in customer service.

But that is not all. Internet use was very frustrating. It would log me off every 5-10 minutes and I had to constantly re-register, which was very frustrating. Breakfast was simple and not worth the 10 euro charge.

On a positive note, the "Grand Suite" is nice and roomy. But the regular suite that I saw was very small. They claim it is 40sq meter, but most of that space must be lost in the long hallway. Another positive note, was that a couple of the night agents were actually friendly, which is why I am giving this hotel two stars rather than one. But place has more of a feeling of a private apartment, than a professionally run hotel.

So, if you are looking for just a room, this may be an option for you. If you are looking for a hotel with friendly customer service and a working elevator, this is probably not the place for you.

Room Tip: Grand Suite costs a little bit more, but it is much more spacious.

We stayed in a grande suite with our 2 little children. We had a travel cot and space bed provided and the living area was very spacious and lots of room to run around. The kitchen area was a little sparse with only a fridge (mini bar) microwave and coffee machine and kettle. So not really useful to cook much, we managed to have breakfast in the room. We ate breakfast in the restaurant once and it was very nice with lots of choice. The bedroom was very small and it was very difficult to squeeze a cot in. It really is just appartments with a little restaurant and no real common hotel area.
The staff were friendly, they didn't speak any english though.

Stayed on 14 and 15 07 2011.
As a family of 6 members they have accomodated in a very big room ,clean and tidy, value for money hotel at reasonable budget. Breakfast at 10 euro per person is quite reasonable for the varieties they served. Hospitality is quite good . Centrally located at Baden-Baden all musieums city market etc., is walkable distance Hop on hop off bus terminal at walking distance say half a kilometer.Silent and wonderful location to live by. As I wanted to go for Bermersbach the hospitality desk arranged Taxi to visit my SRF center at Bermersbach ,a sigt seeing natural beauty place at vey reasonable cost. Very good service.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. We came to Baden-Baden to see Evita at the Opera house. It was literally a 3 minute walk from the hotel which is exactly what we wanted.
The staff were nice and tried to help, but unlike many other hotels we have stayed at in Germany, the staff spoke very little English.
The suite we had was nice. It had a living room, kitchenette with refridgerator and microwave and plates and silverware. Seperate bathroom and the bedroom was seperate as well.
The bed was a typical german bed, but it was so uncomfortable. My husband ended up not being able to sleep at all and even went out to the loveseat in the front room, which was even worse. We told the staff and they didnt present any other options for our second night, so my husband just asked for more blankets to pad the bed to make it softer. it was seriously like sleeping on a wooden board....no cushion to the mattress at all.
Also, if you book on hotels.com it is good to know that you are only reserving the room by entering your credit card info. When we received our large bill at checkout, we told the front desk associate that we booked and paid through hotels.com and it turns out we only reserved the room. Save your self and the clerk the stress, read your fine print.
Breakfast was not included and was not worth the 10 euro per person.

The baths and spa were about a 20 minute walk, that was fine for us, but we plan to stay closer to them in the fufure. This hotel was not homy and cozy....it is better for a business person.

We were amazed at how large the "junior suite" was, and it overlooked a park covered in snow, very beautiful. the room had to be reached by walking on outside walkways, so it was a bit cold to get there, and we had to carry our own bags, but we were there only for the weekend, so it was fine. there was a heated rack for towels in the bathroom, and the room was nice and warm, with nice pillows, but the mattress was divided in two, adjacent to each other in the same bed (I wonder why). the minibar was not so expensive (1.80 euro for a coca cola, for example) as other places i have been. the staff was helpful and friendly, and the hotel was a short walk from the thermal baths. the breakfast (9 euros, not included) was a nice buffet. cheaper if you book in person than on-line. the room had a nice little kitchenette, with microwave and coffee machine. there was a sauna there, but we did not visit it, as we spent our time at the big hot springs resorts in town.
