Just back from Courche 1850.Stayed at this hotel.
Read the reviews in here before we went. I was a bit concerned regarding some of the comments. Needn't have worried. This hotel is excellent value for money. The food is great and the staff excellent. If you live in Claridges in London then book in next door at St Joseph s at £2500 a night.
Rooms excellent
Staff first class
Location could nt be bettered
Bar Cheapest in 1850
Summary; We have skied all over France and this little place offers great value for money. The staff are top notch and unless you are looking for problems, you wont find any.We are booking for 2013

Room Tip: book a room away from road. disco comes out at 4 am and then the bin lorries arrive at 5 am.Can wake you up depending on how much you had the night before!

Stayed here week beginning 8th Jan. Room had recently been refurbished and was spotlessly clean. Shower room small but did the job. Our room was on the first floor and was front facing. One or two mornings we did have a snowplough start very early outside the hotel but at least there was lots of snow to clear! Staff in hotel were extremely friendly and helpful & food was very good. The resort in general is very pricey compared to Mottaret & considering how expensive drinks/food were around the resort the hotel was extremely good value for money.

Wish I could give this a good rating (3.5 rating) The location of this hotel is brilliant. Turn right from the front door you can walk in 2 mins to the main lift area; turn left out of the front door 20 seconds and you are at the blue run behind the hotel. We fortunately mangaged to get a last minute deal (£600pp) over new year 2012. The way the flights fell we had 8 days skiing. Ski area is excellent.
As regards the hotel service- Ski Total really looked after us. Just to name a few Paul (now left the hotel), Edmund, Nancy & Rebecca. Food was generally very good. A few nights were a let down with menu choice i.e. Duck OR Fish main course, but I've had a lot worse in ski chalets.

Just a few negatives to point out- The hotel can be noisy. We had a room on the first floor facing the rear of the hotel. First floor= ground floor at the back of the hotel, so we had some road noise from early morning snow ploughing. We could also hear late night noise (guests being happy :-) ) from the residents lounge & hotel doors slamming etc. I didn't sleep that well- bring ear plug if you sleep lightly.
WiFi is poor- there is one access point in reception which only covers a small area of the lounge. I suggested to the manager Andrew that they could extend the signal for very little cost, but from his reaction I doubt if this will ever be done. Once connected all is ok. The number of residents trying to get internet access is amazing.
Our room (40) was a good size- but had had a leak in the shower room the week before arrival (which didn't get fully repaired all week). Most of the other rooms are small- don't expect too much.
The whole hotel could do with a face lift but then you'll be paying £££. Sound proof (and non slamming) room doors would be a good start.
Drinks prices in the hotel refect the resort prices i.e. expensive. They should be a lot cheaper in the hotel
No sauna.

Some Positives-
Breakfast was good for us- varied 3 choices for hot i.e. pancake OR boiled egg & toast OR porrage OR sausage & egg on toast. + cold options of cereal etc.
Lots of hot water & working central heating
Boot warmer for ski boots.
Open fire in the lounge area.
Unlimited free wine with your meal- white, red or rose.
Evening food generally good (canapes (with aperitif) starter, Main Course, Dessert, Cheese & coffee)

Thats about it- get a good deal here, don't expect a modern 3 or 4 star hotel & enjoy your skiing! oh- and bring plenty of Euros if you eat or drink out :-|

We used to stay years and years ago at the Catina then moved to the Isba but have been told by a lady at Skiline that neither of these properties exist any more. Coq was the cheapest of what we were offered as it seems cheap beds in Courchevel 1850 are getting less and less available which is such a shame because the skiing is so good. The location is great a short wall down to the front but don't even bother with that from the rear you can ski to the chairlift which goes over the snow park and a much better way of getting up into the system. Our room was on the small side but nothing we'd not encountered before and the bathroom was fine. We were at the back and glad about it as there is a nightclub at the front which was getting a bit noisy later in the evening. Staff were pleasant enough and the food was everything I've come to expect from these holidays, plentiful and tasty. The skiing is so good this is our new Catina. I just hope normal people don't get priced out of Courchevel soon I this property goes the next jump up rules out my budget.

I have just come back from a week at this hotel with 5 other friends, the location for skiing is brilliant even though there is a lack of snow in Europe you have a 50 metre walk to get to the main slope and a shorter walk to a red run behind the hotel. The staff here are very helpful and friendly. There is about 50 people in this chalet. The food was a very high standard and breakfast and high tea are all very good.

The rooms although small have excellent showers. There is a night club opposite which can kick out late but in each room there are electric storm blinds which will cut out some sound and early morning sun.

Bar prices are reasonable and cheaper than other bars in the area 4 euros for a pint in happy hour 5 in non happy hour times, if you want a lively bar the jump bar is a short walk excellent apres ski where a pint is 6 euros. For your night that is not catered I can highly recommend the Cafe De La Poste where a 3 course meal with wine and drinks cost us 60 euros each.

When skiing this area a lunch meal on a piste cafe will cost 10-15 euros however avoid Cafe Pierre on Verdons Green Run unless you have money to burn - pasta dish 35 euros bottle of water 11 euros. Cafe Verdons snack bar up the slope from here is miles cheaper and better value. Also the hotel does a packed lunch for 7 euros which is fine.

The ski total staff are very good and helpfull and seem to have a good spirit with the guests

We would go back again hopefully with better snow conditions - apparently this year has seen the least snow in 50 yrs but there is plenty on snow on north facing slopes and higher areas - Courchevel 1650 and lower area suffering but cable cars get you to the snow really quick.
