“Terrible hotel. Never stayed again.”
Reviewed 6 June 2011

We booked air conditioning Comfort room with Garden view (extra charge)
Conditioner didn’t work. They offered to move me to a different room for an extra charge (30 euro per night). So we couldn’t stay in the room during the day, it was too hot outside and inside 30C. It was an unattractive view of an inner backyard with hanging sheets right outside of my window. The washroom door didn’t open from the inside (only the outside)
Dirty towels (washed but with black stains on them). There was no lift and we had to bring the suitcases up a very narrow stair case ourselves.

We stayed at the Azur Hotel for 3 nights in May and found it to be perfectly acceptable. Its nothing amazing but its in a great location, the staff are friendly, the place is clean and the rooms are of a decent size. Our bathrooms were newly refurbished - one had a bath, one had a very good shower. We had breakfast on the cute garden terrace which was very tranquil. If you have a room on the street side there is traffic noise but if you are out the back its very quiet. There's no lift as many of these reviews state but that didn't bother us as there weren't loads of stairs. Overall, it did what we needed it to while we were there and we were able to get access to anything we needed.

My Wife and I stayed at this hotel for 8 nights. The staff were very friendly towards us. We were very pleased with the hotel and the service they provided. Breakfast was of a good standard. The location was perfect (10 mins walk to the old port). I would recommend this hotel to others.

Looking for a place near friends in the 5th arrondisement, we stayed at Azur for a night and were not disappointed. The bathroom was tiny but had a good shower and very good lighting, the bed was big and good and the decor was really very good for the price. The only complaint is the lack of a lift. We were lucky to find a parking spot right in front of the hotel and felt safe parking there.

Contrary to another review, we found the staff (the two we met) to be very friendly, although when our friends asked for a restaurant recommendation, they were handed a tourist guide.

I stayed here for one night in November and the whole experience was absolutely awful.

As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very unwelcome and were treated as if we shouldn't be there. The staff were the rudest and most hostile I've ever come across, talking about us amongst themselves and to other guests in French (a language they didn't think we could understand) whilst we paid the bill.

They made us wait 2 hours to check into a room that was already available and when we were finally allowed to go up we were given a room on the top floor despite the fact others were available and there are no lifts. I really did feel that the staff were being deliberately unhelpful and obstructive, seemingly going out of there way to make our stay as unpleasant as possible.

There were no clean towels so we had to go around the other vacant rooms trying to find some, it then became apparent to us that although all the rooms were pretty abismal, we had been given the worst one in the building. There were wires hanging from the walls, the carpet was filthy and I only slept in the bed out of sheer exhaustion.

If you have got ANY option other than to stay in this hotel, I would strongly advise you to take it! How it has got any stars at all is completely beyond me!
