We spent 4 nights at Les Mas des Etoiles. The house and surroundings are beautiful- clean, airy, comfortable rooms, with great beds, pristine white sheets, lovely bathrooms. The personal style and touch of the owners is everywhere- from the shells in the bathroom, to the quaint decoration of the rooms. The grounds are wonderful- a great pool, sitting areas with a grapevine shaded table. All around are vineyards and breath taking views of the Luberon mountains. As if this where not enough, the hosts, Francois & Annette, made our stay so enjoyable. They take personal interest in their guests, provide maps of the area and excellent recommendations where to go, what to see & eat. They serve a delicious breakfast, mouthwatering homemade jams, freshly baked croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice. In the evening Francois served a glass of wine, while discussing the day and helping to plan the next one. The location is fantastic, just outside Gordes, very central in the area and a short drive to many different villages, but quiet and peaceful. We can't wait to come back!

Le Mas des Étoiles is a beautiful bed and breakfast minutes from the hilltop village of Gordes. (The location is excellent; you can easily visit anywhere in Provence. ) We stayed there May 4-6. In addition to the main house, the property includes a guesthouse that contains two rooms, each with its private garden. My husband and I stayed in one of these, L'Oiseaux, and loved it. The bedroom/sitting room is airy, spacious, and charmingly decorated and the modern bathroom contains a huge bathtub as well as a large tiled shower. Everything was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Surrounding the guesthouse and in back of the main residence are extensive, lovely gardens and a pool area. There are two outdoor dining areas: one next to the pool and one on the patio in back of the main house. Near that table is a large refrigerator filled with water, soft drinks, beer, and oranges and to its side is a wine refrigerator. You are invited to take whatever you want--they charge only for the wine and beer, on the honor system.
Breakfast--with fresh squeezed orange juice, ham, cheese, various local breads (we loved the one made with figs), home made jams, soft-boiled eggs, strawberries from the market, yogurt, and the best croissants we had in France--was ample and delicious.
As lovely as Le Mas des Étoiles is, what is most outstanding about this wonderful b and b are your hosts. Francois and Annette are friendly, well-educated, kind, and very interesting people. The day we arrived, they were celebrating the birth of their 16th grandchild, Mathilde, and invited us to drink champagne at 7 in celebration. On another night, we shared some rosé with them--it was so good it has set us off on a hunt to find an equally good rosé now we are back home. (No luck yet.) We breakfasted with them and the other guests every morning, and the table conversation was varied and lively. Francois and Annette are excellent English speakers, but they will converse with you in French if you, like us, want to practice a bit.
Their hospitality starts before you arrive: François will send you an extensive spreadsheet with recommendations for areas to visit and restaurants. (Our favorite restaurant was La Terrasse in Goult.) Both of them are available to consult once you arrive and are happy to book you a table or make whatever arrangements you need. On our checkout day, they let us leave all our luggage with them so we could visit the famous antiques market at L'Isle sûr la Sorgue. When we returned mid afternoon, they offered us drinks and we had a most satisfying last visit with them.
Le Mas des Étoiles has our highest recommendation. They have a very good website--it is easy to book directly with them. We will return! Merci mille fois, Annette et François!!

I accompanied a friend on her third stay at Le Mas des Étoiles. The host and hostess are very personable and helpful. They are comfortable in English, Spanish, German at least. The rooms impeccable, the swimming pool refreshing. Breakfasts are full of regional specialties. Perfect country house for relaxing vacation.

From the moment we arrived, Francois and Annette took care of us. Our accommodations were impeccable appointed. Francois had a media presentation for all the area attractions and gave us maps and a detailed book to facilitate our daily plans. The property is lovely and the pool is wonderful at the end of the day. We appreciated Francois making dinner reservations for us at different restaurants every evening. An added bonus is an ice machine and a communal refrigerator. They also have beverages for sale. Opposite the entrance is a very nice restaurant and fruit stand. There is free internet and it worked well.

We like to stay in bed and breakfasts when we travel, have been to many, and Le Mas des Etoiles is without doubt the very best we've experienced.

Francois and Annette are wonderful, attentive hosts. They go above and beyond to accommodate their guests, ensure they're maximizing their time in Provence. They help with small things (like restaurant reservations) and big things (like jumping the battery of your car when you leave your lights on). We immediately felt like we were part of their family.

The setting is exquisite -- breakfasts are set in their beautiful gardens, the rooms are clean and come with modern conveniences (e.g. great shower), and the location near to the picture postcard town of Gordes is perfect. There are so many things to do in the area, and if you ever run out Francois will have great additional suggestions.

We wish we had stayed longer than the 3 nights we had (seriously, anything less than that would be a mistake). We can't wait to return.
