“Wonderful owner!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2012

Owner was very personable. Excellent hotel, location and price for a 65 year old school teacher with wife. Be careful in the garden. There is poison oak covering the shading structure.

Room Tip: Will return.

We stayed here for only one night, but it was a lovely, traditionally french place. The staff were all friendly,The room was clean, the bed big and comfortable, and the room had a little balcony overlooking the garden with the cutest shutters!
The breakfast was served in the sitting/dining area, and could be eaten outside. There were comfy sofas to sit in, and magazines to read and relax with.
it was very easy to find, 15 mins with cases from the station, and 10 minutes walk to the 98 bus to the airport. The promenade only 5 mins away, and the old town nearby, with lots of restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: We had booked a standard double but got upgraded. we had a garden facing room on the 2nd floor.

Just stayed with my daughters in this lovely little boutique hotel in Nice, and had a fabulous time. A traditional pink provencal style bedroom - a little cosy with three adults in the room but with air-conditioning, kettle and TV we managed just fine. The fact that there is a lovely sitting room and garden area, meant we had space to do our own thing while waiting for each other to get ready.
The hotel is ideally placed for the Promenade des Anglais and all amenities in town, also for the main station where we took the train both east and west to further explore the Cote d'Azur. We found the Staff really helpful and welcoming, the room was spotless and we would definitely recommend this as a good base for your trip to the South of France.

My husband and I stayed in a standard room at the Hotel Rivoli during the weekend of the Monaco Grand Prix this May.

The hotel, a converted private residence, was very quaint, with french windows and shutters leading out onto tiny balconies outside the rooms. It was ten to fifteen minutes drive from the airport, and very conveniently situated. We could walk to the sea-front in five minutes, to the train station, and the old town and restaurant area in fifteen to twenty minutes.

The young girls on the reception were very welcoming and helpful. The room was small and clean, with an ensuite bathroom with an excellent shower. There was free wifi and very useful airconditioning. The shady garden area was very pleasant to sit out in and relax..
We did think the continental breakfast was a bit pricey and should really have been included in the price of the room, all this was not cheap. We had breakfast out mostly and we bought teabags and milk in a nearby supermarket to supplement the single teabag per person provided in the room with the kettle.

Me and my partner stayed at Rivoli for 5 nights at the end of May. We found the staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful although we didn't have much call to speak to them other than the usual greetings in passing.
We stayed in room 6 which was a 'superior room'. The room was quite big and well decorated in a typically French boutique style which I thought made it feel much more homely and romantic than some of the larger more commercial hotels. The bathroom was on the small side but always very clean and as others have commented the balconies were only just big enough for one person to stand on. Still it was nice to be able to open the doors and get some fresh air. There was quite a bit of traffic noise but then what do you expect in Nice...it is a town afterall. And besides as soon as the windows were closed you couldn't hear the traffic.
We only had breakfast once at the hotel which was ok but you could possibly find nicer elsewhere. Not sure about cheaper though? The coffee tasted like instant coffee and I was bitten all over by the bugs in the garden. Remember your insect repellant!!
We felt the location was good. It was really easy to get bus no 98 from airport to outside the Negressco which is then a 2 minute walk to Rivoli. The restaurants in the shopping area are a 5 min walk and the old town a 20 minute walk. Perfect to walk off your dinner!
Nice in my opinion is a great destination and unfortunately we went to Cannes for 2 nights afterwards. We missed the Rivoli and Nice so much we almost decided to leave Cannes and go straight back!
We will definitely be visiting the Rivoli again in the future
