What an oasis of calm and a change to the beachfront cafes of Menton. Old fashioned colonial feel with excellent service in a spotless and shady courtyard. Sublime. Fascinating trees and plenty of. Room. Drinks were good too! Easy access from sea front to shopping streets. Excellent place to stop for refreshments and a comfort break.

Room Tip: Only went for drinks but would suggest sea view!

The is a hotel on the Grand style overlooking the sea with pleasant gardens and large airy rooms.

We came as part of a HF group on a walking holiday and were pensive after reading the mixed reviews and as our room was not facing the sea we were worried about street noise following a bad experience the night before in Nice.

Our room was on the fourth floor and had two sets off French doors overlooking the street with a great view of the mountains. It was large and airy with a fridge, large bathroom and that rarity these days a separate toilet. Lots of storage space and a safe. While the road outside can be noisy once the doors are shut it was hardly noticeable.

The food was criticised last year but has been sorted out and while not fantastic there was lots of choice and waiter service, unlimited wine may have helped the dining experience but three courses and then a cheese board satisfied most apart from vegetarian's who will never get much joy in France.

Breakfast was fine with a god selection including boil your own eggs.

The hotel has recently been renovated and if you want a relaxing hotel at a reasonable price its good value.

All the staff were very helpful and eager to please.

Room Tip: The front would be the best but as long as you are a few floors up noise is not a problem.

the hotel situation is good and the gardens very nice , But if a city view room on lower floors you will get no sleep after 4.30 am due refuse collection and lorries delivering to supermarket , we changed to a sea view room extra cost , small walk in shower separate toilet , The carpet badly stained , a supposed small wardrobe /withdrawers falling apart and so old as to be useless small built in wardrobe desk with drawers , bed ok clean linen
ants seem to be everywhere in room , on terrace .
not a helpful reception apart from 2 young females
seems to concentrate on groups of a mature age

Room Tip: sea view rooms the quietest

Set right across from the beach, with lovely gardens and outdoor patios for dining and drinking, this hotel is exactly what one would expect to find on the French Riviera. Grand public rooms, bar and restaurant, attentive service and very good food. (We had dinner and breakfast there). Our spacious room, with sleeping and sitting areas, overlooked the Med and had two patio doors opening onto two balconies. The bathroom was enormous with a large walk-in shower and the very sensible design provided a completely separate toilet.
Our dinner was excellent and the wine list very reasonably priced. The breakfast the following morning left nothing to be desired - both cooked and continental.
Sure, the place has been around a while but it depends if you want to spend a bundle on the 'Resort' type of hotel or stay at one that offers everything you need, with style and quality, at a very reasonable rate. We thought it was a great deal and would have stayed longer if our schedule permitted it.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are gorgeous on the 5th floor.

this is the third visit I have made to the Royal Westminster Hotel in Menton..... would highly recommend it if you like a quiet and relaxing stay.... plenty of space.... staff are very polite... breakfast choice excellent.... rooms are clean and spacious.... a sea view is nice if you can get it... if not, try and get the forth or fifth floor on the 'City view' side and you'll get a lovely view of the mountains..... preferable to the sea view in my opinion.... The hotel is located in Menton old town, approximately 10min walk from the train station..... a good choice all round...

Room Tip: ...either a sea view.... or floors four and five on the city side (for the views)
