The old city of Avignon is bursting with activity in July for a theater festival. Le Colbert is very conveniently located within the walls and the location was unbelievably quiet and comfortable for a restful night. Our host, Patrice (and his petit chien Bonnie) and his assistant, Aphrodite, were delightful. It was warm while we visited, and the in room air conditioning worked well (do I sound like an American??). The daily breakfast was very nice - traditional selection of cheeses, fresh juice, coffee, and croissant. We took advantage of the brightly colored and secluded patio for our breakfast.
The entire hotel is bursting with an eclectic mix of framed art - we noticed something new each of our 3 days.
The hotel is very close to the local train station (not the TGV station - but there is a shuttle from the TGV to the local train - or a short cab ride to the hotel).
There is an in room safe should you need one, and eating is not allowed in the room. Each room is provided with 3 wifi access codes - sufficient for the 2 of us at any given time.
Patrice provided suggestions for a day trip (to Arles - it was impromptu for us and we are happy we made the trip - a short 20 minute train ride).
We would happily return to Le Colbert!More
