We really loved staying in this beautiful apartment right in the heart of Arles' old town. Situated on the top two floors of an old mansion, and with its own private roof terrace, this is a luxuriously and sympathetically modernised apartment with great facilities. The apartment is airy and nicely decorated with an open plan lounge and well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher (needs a food cupboard though!) with views over the famous St. Trophime church which is adjacent. Below is the large, quiet bedroom with stylish ensuite. Both main rooms are very effectively air conditioned. The real highlight of course is the roof terrace above looking out over the rooftops of old Arles - we had breakfast and evening drinks out here every day as well as occasional meals.
The location is terrific - right in the heart of the old town, two blocks from the Roman theatre, Amphitheatre and main squares. Caroline, the owner, leaves a handy folder of information about the apartment and Arles. It's also less than 15 minutes walk from the main station, and even closer to the main bus stops by the Tourist information. Arles is a great base for the region - we took trips to Avignon and Orange and Marseilles by train (there are good value day passes available in summer) and to the Pont du Gard, via Nimes, and Ste. Marie de la Mer through the Camargue, by bus. However, Arles itself has a range of great sites (don't miss the newish archaeology museum just outside the centre) and is just a lovely place to relax and wander between the cafes. We'd thoroughly recommend both Arles and this lovely apartment.
Great town centre location, with easy access to all the sights and restaurants.
The apartment is very well appointed, neat and tidy, with all the comforts of home, the air con was especialy welcome. The terrace was a bonus, great place to enjoy an evening drink or early morning breakfast.
We stayed for a week at the end of June in this lovely apartment. Very comfortable and clean with everything you need. Wonderful setting, in the centre of Arles. The rooftop terrace was brilliant and we spent a lot of our time up there, as the weather was glorious all week. We didn't get to meet Caroline, the owner, as she was off getting married, but her friend Agnes looked after us. We had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend and to stay again next time we visit Provence.
