I've just spent a long weekend at this stunning, provincial hotel in Aix en Provence. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the town centre and very peaceful at night due to it's location on the outskirts of town. Upon our arrival we found that the receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. She instantly gave us a map and pinpointed the route into town.

The rooms are clean, cozy and have a small balcony attached which gives the room a countryside feel. The bathroom is spacious and was cleaned on a daily basis. All in all we had a great weekend and very enjoyed our stay at this hotel!

Room Tip: - Go to Mont Sainte Victoire - you can take a minibus from La Rotonde outside the Office de Tourisme for only 1Euro. The mountain and the surrounding lake is absolutely stunning. - Grab a slice of pizza from 'Pizza Capri' down Cours Mirabeau - Try a Nutella crepe from 'Crepes a go-go' outside the tourism office

This hotel is very good value, comfortable and within reasonable walking distance (~10 min) to the historic center of Aix. The front desk staff was very helpful and attentive, on one occasion negotiating free transportation with a cab that had been delayed. Overall very friendly atmosphere. Air conditioning in rooms is a plus during summer.

Nice place, but very hard mattresses! Pillows were the round bolster type and odd to sleep on.
The staff was nice and location fine. I would not stay there again because of the beds.

Spent 3 nights at this hotel in September 2011. As others have noted, the hotel is a little tired decor-wise, but it was a clean, comfortable place to sleep. Other good points- air conditioning, which was needed on those hot Provence days, and a very nice staff. Didn't order the breakfast- it looked pretty tired too, but lots of others seemed to be enjoying it. We just walked up to the old part of Aix and hit a boulangerie for a nice fresh baguette. It is about a 10 minute walk to the old part of town, but on the hotel street is a little mini-mart which was very convenient.
Parking was free, and our room had a decent sized balcony where we sat (once the blazing hot sun had passed) and enjoyed some local rose wine.
All in all- not a honeymoon destination, but as a way to save a few bucks before breaking the bank in Paris, it was a fine choice. Met my Big Three hotel requirements: 1) clean 2) no bugs or critters 3) quiet. The rest is gravy, that you get when you feel like paying for it. This place was maybe 70 Euros a night.

We stayed 2 nights at Mozart Hotel, and I would agree with one reviewer's comment that it was more like a motel. We arrived in Aix by TGV, and after getting the shuttle to the main train station, it did feel like rather a long walk through town to get there. I would say it is more suited to those driving into Aix, as it appeared to have ample parking, and is a good 10 minute walk out of the old town. The room itself was nice enough, and the bathroom a good size and clean. I had thought being somewhat in the countryside would mean a restful night's sleep. The first night was fine, but unfortunately, the second night the people in a nearby house were playing loud music and talking in the garden at midnight. We had to close our shutters to try and drown out some of the noise. We did not eat breakfast as it cost an additional 8 euros. Overall, not bad, but not the top of our list of hotels from this trip. If you are training it, I would recommend staying in Avignon, where you seem to get better value for money, and taking a day trip to Aix.
