I dont know - may be just been lucky and also not that experienced but for me every thing was perfect. Beautiful mountains, landscape, lot of snow. Not big, but cozy place, not overcrowded. Not expensive. And nice people.

The station was supposed to stay open until the end of April but despite the quality of the snow almost everything was closed....Those who decided to stay open were really nice but the atmosphere was quiet and gloomy. If you have little kids, be aware that the ski school "Les piou piou" works depending on the number of kids registered. It is an expensive ski resort so be sure that it is working at its full potential.

We flew into Nice then took the bus from the airport - less than 2 hours (5 Euro). Stayed at the Hotel Edelweiss - small hotel opposite the gondola and right in the centre. Very friendly hotel with decent facilities, good restaurant and lively bar. Our bedroom had a lovely view over the slopes and a small balcony, however was small and very basic. Also the walls were so thin you could hear everything that was going on it the next room ... The snow was good even in April and the slopes are varied with no queues. Very busy at the weekend. Good selection of restaurants with friendly service. Lots of equipment hire places but avoid the Sport 2000 shop - they are rude and dismissive. The bus journey back down was a bit scary as the driver drove far too fast for the narrow roads and he was constantly talking to his friend. Would recommend Auron over Isola 2000 - more sophisticated and better atmosphere.

There are many nice slopes at this station with blue, red and black tracks. The views are breathtaking, the restaurants and cafés by the slopes are nice as well. In the village there are no big houses like in Isola 2000, but mostly small and low houses.
However, we arrived to a rented apartment which was just a few degrees above the outdoor temperature, that was about zero. When I complained there was no regret and no excuse but an argument about how many hours were needed to get normal indoor temperature! So, if you want to go to Auron for a nice time in the slopes and want to arrive in a nice and warm apartment, rent it from someone else than De Colombe Immobilier.

Great place for one-two days visit from Nice. Plenty of various tracks and lifts. Stunning views on mountains. To avoid crowd don't plan visiting on weekends or French holidays.
