The Little Comptoir is a very busy Italian restaurant in the heart of historic Angouleme. The interior is immaculately clean - a mixture of historic architecture and modern chic, although the few outside tables are squashed on the side of a pedestrian pathway, opposite a Kebab shop.
Prices are higher than the many french restaurants around. My salmon salad at E16 was enormous, with 4 salmon steaks, although our pizzas (E16 & E14) were decidedly average, with the base somewhat undercooked.
The staff were efficient but seemed ambivalent about serving English tourists alongside their chic regulars, so I would not recommend.
