We came to Chantepie with our 5 and 7 year old boys and stayed in a safari style tent.
Good points:
Reception and shop are very good and staffed by helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Site is 8 km from Saumur but due to it's country location offers some great cycling opportunities - including some quiet back lane routes ideally suited for those with young children.
Pitches with views of the Loire
Areas that could be improved:
Safari style tents are adequately equipped but lack a feeling of quality about them. A little bit more attention to detail in terms of furnishings would really enhance the stay eg. better plates, larger fridge, chest of drawers etc. Interestingly, Chantepie's sister site ( L'Etang near Brissac ) has similar tents but has applied greater attention to detail......and it shows ( stayed their for our 2nd week ).
Chantepie's asset is it's views of the Loire. We felt that if you didn't stay on a Loire view pitch you might come away feeling a little let down. To get a Loire view book early!
Swimming pools are good although outdoor pool lacked any steps with handrail to get in or out.
Washrooms / toilets are good but are centrally located for whole site. It would make sense if the site could build some additional blocks dotted around the site to make it easier for people to reach from all parts of the siteMore
