“Two weeks was better than one!”
Reviewed 25 August 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This was our second stay at Annie's House. The only thing that spoiled the holiday last year was having to come home after just a week. We got it right this time and booked two instead!

The property is perfect for two adults with all you could reasonably need. It's nice to stay in a property so quintessentially 'of the region' in look and construction. There are lovely features in the house and a lovely comfy sofa and bed. What more do you need??

For those of you interested in birds (feathered kind) and wildlife there is lots to see in the area you don't find easily at home such as Montague Harriers and Stone Curlews. We had a very friendly little lizard living on the wall outside the door and of course the caves in the region mean bats too. We also love the Hummingbird Hawk Moths - they are all around the jardin.

There were some particular things we did this time I could recommend all on this website if you look...
1. A Segway Tour of Amboise - a real highlight as unlike in the UK you can zip along roads and pavements. A good way too see all the sites in very lityle time.
2.Hire a kayak from Saumur and paddle with the flow stopping off for picnic along the way. Much cheaper than doing this sort of thing in the UK and buoyancy aids and everything you need are provided. They the pick you and the kayak up and take you back to your car. It's a great way to see the birds of the Loire of course and reall takes little effort. Don't forget the sun cream if the sun is out and expect to get soaked.
3. Chateau de Breze is also an interesting place to visit with a lot below ground! There are quite a few multiple venue tickets to buy which cover for example the Doue Zoo, Breze and Saumur's Chateau so look out. Doue Zoo is pretty good but that was a visit last year.
4. If you want a quick and easy Cremant making tour then we thought that the Ackerman Tour was good with some impressive art installations in the caves. If you go to the Wine Centre next to Tourist Information in Saumur and say you want to go to Ackerman Caves then they will give you a voucher that makes the tour free and gives you money off any purchases too.
HOWEVER...
If you are serious about wine then the very best you can do is speak to La Bellevue's owners - Gerald knows everything about wines of the area and can arrange special tastings and visits.
5. Lastly on places we went on this stay, my husband would probably enthuse about the Tank Museum in Saumur but he isn't writing this so tough!

Lastly I will mention the Beaumont family who own the property and also live in the home 'next door'. With Sarah being English it makes life easier if you are worried about language barriers. Sarah keeps Bellevue looking beautiful and truly cares about her guests but without ever being intrusive. A really charming family.

We are just arranging our booking for next year.....

“Fantastic Week”
Reviewed 16 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I loved Annie's House as soon as SarahJane opened the gates to let us in. Annie's House is situated in a beautiful village just outside Saumur, the gite is fully equipped with everything you need and outside you have 2 Steamer chairs to relax in or sit at the patio table at the front or side of the gite and relax with a glass of wine on a nice summer evening. Gerald and Sarah-Jane were very friendly and welcoming when we arrived and nothing was too much trouble.
Their knowledge of the surrounding area made our weeks stay a very enjoyable one

“Perfect cottage in idyllic location to just chill yet so close to the best of the Loire Valley.”
Reviewed 14 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Comfortable, cosy, romantic cottage with every facility for a couple wanting to relax and visit the beautiful Loire Valley. Sit outside basking in warm sunshine sipping wine recommended by Sarah Jane & Gerard, stored in their troglodyte cave.
Go and visit wonderful chateaux, abbeys or villages and re-discover the pleasure of driving on quiet, smooth, well sign posted country roads , the like of I haven't seen in England for many years. Immerse yourself in French culture and soak up the breath taking landscapes as you travel.
Our hosts were wonderful and on hand for help or advice if needed but not intrusive. Sarah Jane enjoys her gardening and the results of her efforts are a delight to behold. Their home and the cottage are gorgeous and merge traditional village architecture with all mod-cons. Both french and english dvds, many very recent were handy for the evenings to enjoy.
We would like to thank Sarah Jane and Gerard for a wonderful week in the Loire valley that we will treasure forever.

“Beautiful home, wonderful hosts and unforgettable stay”
Reviewed 16 May 2015 for a stay in March 2015

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Annie's house in March 2015 for three nights. We had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend the house for any couple or family looking to explore the Loire Valley.

Sarah-Jane and Gerald are wonderful hosts who were more than happy to recommend restaurants in the area, answer our questions about nearby chateaux, and discuss their favorite vineyards in the region (of which there are many to choose from!). We also made the wise choice of having Gerald cook for us one night -- the duck confit he prepared was probably the best we ever had! They also have a diverse wine list, and it was fun sampling the wines throughout our stay.

The house itself is spacious, comfortable and absolutely beautiful. Though we only had time to stay for several nights, we would have easily stayed longer if we could have. The house is close to some major chateaux in the region, and a very manageable drive to the renowned Chennonceau and Chambord (well worth the visit!).

Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this rental without reservations.

“Beautiful Gîte”
Reviewed 9 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

This was our fifth year staying in this beautiful gîte. Set in a quiet village location it is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the surrounding area. Located next to the owners house it makes an ideal holiday base to explore the Loire Valley, which has endless delights. The owners Sarah-Jane and Gerald are wonderful hosts and their primary concern is your comfort and enjoyment for the duration of your stay with them. The gîte is beautifully presented and immaculately clean. I would highly recommend this gîte. We will definitely be visiting next year making it our sixth visit.
