This inn was a beautiful oasis of calm just a 2 minute walk from the touristed but gorgeous centre of Honfleur. Although our GPS struggled to find it (ms Lilliane smilingly commented that "all the world is lost" when I told her we had got lost and ended up walking up the street from the church - it is up the opposite end. However the serene green courtyard garden, her friendly welcome, and a spacious L'Atelier du Peintre made us very glad we'd found La Cour Sainte Catherine. Nearby secure parking made things easy, although we probably could have found parking on the street outside. We chose not to breakfast here as the market was on in town in the morning and we enjoyed foraging (the dining are and kitchen in the apartment was handy for this). Rooms were comfy and large, nicely decorated, bathroom adequate and toilet tiny (both my husband and I are over 6 ft tall...), and be aware the stairs to the bedrooms upstairs are narrow and steep, not easy for a large suitcase if you are planning on taking it upstairs. We really enjoyed our brief stay and would return in a flash.

We stayed at La Cour Sainte Catherine for 2 nights in late August. We enjoyed our stay and will not hesitate to stay here again – great location, quiet, excellent breakfast - overall very good value at Euro 80 per couple.

Location: In tranquil medley of narrow streets, walking distance (5 mins) to Old port, night life, etc.
Parking: Challenging, either pay Euro 10 for a covered parking a couple of blocks away or be prepared to circle the streets and be competent and courageous (for an American suburban driver) in parallel parking.

Rooms: We occupied 2 rooms MARINE (for 2 couples) facing the street. The rooms were spacious, well appointed with comfy décor and good beds. The room on the second floor was accessible by a steep flight of stairs.
Grounds: Beautiful an inviting courtyard, it would be great to lounge there with a fine glass of cider, but we were busy somewhere else.

Breakfast: crusty bread, good selection of local cheeses (4-5 kinds), apple cider, 2-4 pastries and tarts, apple pie was yummy, plenty of good coffee.

Hosts: although both husband and wife didn’t speak/understand a word of English, we had no problem communicating with them about rooms, parking, checkout times, etc. husband was very enthusiastic in helping me to find a parking spot in front of the hotel and instructing me with gestures, sighs and laughter in my attempts to squeeze in.

We stay with Ms Liliane last month. It was a very lovely Inn. It is situated in the heart of Honfleur among beautiful gardens & friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely - homemade baked good, excellent coffee. Wish we could return for several more days.

Room Tip: I would suggest you ask for a ground floor room. We were in a very sweet room on the 3rd floor. We had to carry our luggage up 3 floors of a very narrow circular staircase.

We spent over three wonderful weeks in France in late May and June. We stayed at four fantastic B&B's and two great hotels.I hesitated to write this review because the one place that we liked the least was this one. I read many glowing reviews before hand, which is why I looked forward to staying here.Parking was very hard to find, and we parked quite a distance away. Then, the owner was not present while we were here, so the warm welcome others seemed to receive was not our experience. The woman who checked us in spoke no English, but that was not really the issue. Our room was on the street level, with windows right next to the sidewalk. Through the short lace curtains we could clearly see people walking by our room, so we went outside and closed the wood shutters. This made the already dark room seem cave-like and depressing. The next morning at breakfast, what looked (to me) like yesterday's pastries seemed unappealing. The woman finally did speak two words of English to me when she said, "Pay now".So we did, and left. I usually assume that people who write negative reviews are just unhappy people, but we really enjoyed every other place we stayed. We may have just been here at the wrong time with the owner being away, but I doubt very much that we will come back.

bonjour Mada,e;
It is the first time in 10 years when I receive this kind of critics. All the houses in Honfleur are fisherman's houses and all the ground floors are used. Your room had curtains traditional sailors and the persons who walk do not look through windows.
If your room did not suit to you, and I can understand it, it was necessary to say it upon your arrival. We would have tried to change you and you would certainly have had a better stay.
We do not make difference with our hosts for the breakfast. But when a stay is not appreciated, anything don’t go.

We loved our three night stay at La Cour Sainte Catherine! We were somewhat surprised by how busy and touristy Honfleur was, but as soon as we stepped off the street into the courtyard of this delightful B&B we were surrounded by peaceful serenity. We had a ground floor room which was quite spacious, and had a sliding door that opened onto the courtyard. We did quite a bit of sight-seeing in the area but I think my favorite memories of Honfleur will be relaxing in the courtyard. We also enjoyed the breakfast each day - traditional French fare done well - croissants and a baguette, a selection of fruit pastries, yogurt, cheese, juice and coffee or tea. Oh, and delicious fruit jams! We bought a jar to take home with us.
