Since our first stay in 2014 we return again and again to this wonderful location. We feel always very welcome and enjoy every stay very much. We travel with or well-behaved dogs - they love it too! The location ist very good for sightseeing, lovely castles, gardens, beaches and other surroundings are easy reachable. Excellent restaurants not far away. You will really love it too! Highly recommended!

“L'Orangerie - A Marvelous Place to Stay”

This was our first trip to Normandy and we found it an interesting place to tour with lots of history and the region's bucolic, expansive countryside. Our Normandy experience was hugely enhanced by our stay at the outstanding L'Orangerie and its gracious hostess, Mdme Claudia. The two apartments, a conversion of the farm outbuilding, are a very impressive testimony to the owners commitment to capturing as much of the old character as can be done. Spacious, well-appointed, and with all the modern conveniences this was a fine place to stay. Everything was very clean. Bring what you need, in the interest of keeping the apartment clean no condiments, etc. are left on site.

The country setting is invigorating and charming. Getting there is easy with GPS and I expect a good highway map would also meet the need. The location is close to Bayeux and all its charms and the WW II sites.

Final comment, Mdme Claudia is a gem, we arrived late and she guided us into Bayeux to get provisions and a restaurant. A discussion with Claudia is a serious bonus to staying at L'Orangerie

“A beautiful apartment”

We have just spent four days staying at one of these lovely apartments. Every compliment from other reviewers is richly deserved. They are beautifully and thoughtfully decorated with plenty of space. We were not blessed with good weather but the holiday was made special by being able to return each day to such pleasant surroundings. The owners Claudia and Michel were very helpful. Claudia told us some of the history of the building. We suggest she should write it all down for other visitors to read!

“Perfect Spot”

My husband and I along with another couple stayed at this lovely house for four nights. With three large bedrooms, we had plenty of space. There is a well equipped kitchen and the house is surrounded by a chateau and beautiful pasture land with a pond. It was so centrally located to everything...Bayeux, Deauville, Mont St. Michel...so much to see and do. The owner/manager, Claudia, lives on site and is so accommodating and puts so much care into making her guests feel at home and happy. Visiting with her was a joy. I would highly recommend this lovely place. Besides, being very nice, it cost us 1/2 of what two hotel rooms would have been.

“The perfect spot to make your home base”

We travelled with another couple to visit Normandy. We are mature couples from Canada. We stayed at L'Orangerie for a week. If you are travelling as a family or with friends, have a car and a GPS, then you need look look no further for the perfect spot to stay. The owner, Claudia, has gone to great pains to convert an old barn into two modern 3 bedroom units. They are lovingly done, each with a lovely outdoor patio looking out over the large pond and lush landscape beyond. Complete with outdoor barbecue, a well equipped kitchen, with first class flatware and dishes, comfortable mattresses, lots of bright space, we could not have been more satisfied with our lodgings, particularly after a week of living in overly small hotel rooms in other parts of Normandy. The champagne on arrival is a classy touch. You are about a 10 to 15 minute leisurely and scenic drive to Bayeux, which has the famous tapestry, the magnificent cathedral, the lovely narrow river, excellent restaurants and grocery stores that sell a wide selection of wonderful French wines. Bayeux is an ideal spot to access the Normandy beaches, the Caen memorial and Mont St Michel. Our week went by far too fast. L'Orangerie felt like home. Were we ever to return to that part of the world, we would stay nowhere else. Thank you, Claudia, for providing us with such wonderful lodgings. I conclude this review with one tip. Bring staples, such as salt and pepper. The fridge will be empty. You will need to supply your own soap and shampoo. Remember to bring an electrical adaptor to keep your electric accessories charged up.
