The Hotel Churchill is a charming old hotel in the center of historic Bayeux. It was reasonably priced, central to everything we wanted to see, has a shuttle service to Mont Saint Michel and the pick-up for the Normandy beaches tour picked us up at the hotel. The front desk staff speak English, and were friendly and accommodating. The only reason I gave the hotel an average rating was because of the lack of an elevator; I don't recall if anything was mentioned about that when I made the reservation on a 3rd party site. We had a small family room (1 large bed and 2 singles) with our own bathroom on the 3rd floor. Fortunately, my 84 yr old father was able to climb the stairs; not sure what we would have done if my step-mother had been with us. A continental breakfast is available for 15 Euros/person.

Room Tip: If any guest has mobility restrictions, ensure you request a lower floor room.

This is a charming, old world boutique hotel. The location in the heart of Bayeux could not be more convenient. The proprietor and staff were all pleasant and helpful. The Junior Suite was spacious and attractive. It isn't actually a suite, however, but one large room with king bed, two nightstands, chaise, and desk. The bathroom was attractive and sufficiently roomy. Breakfast room is pleasant. Quibbles: No dresser for unpacking clothes, and while there were shelves most were being used for extra pillows and bedding. There were no amenities (such as shampoo or lotion) provided...only liquid soap/gel in dispensers. The wifi didn't work, so I used my cell phone as a hotspot, which I prefer anyway since the public wifi isn't secure. These were minor inconveniences, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here if planning a stay in Bayeux.

The hotel is in an excellent location - everything is right at your doorstep. Room was very small but clean. Bathroom had been nicely updated and had shelving for storage of toiletries.

Much of hotel is tired and in need of updated, carpets in halls were worn and stained, decor in bedroom was outdated. Wifi is weak, slow to connect, and required us to log in several times each day.

Service at desk was fine if you were there in person, but we needed to call desk for 2 issues and service was spotty at best. They could use more staff. We called desk to say there was no hair dryer and they insisted having someone visit room to confirm there was no hair dryer (it's a tiny room, we would have seen one if it existed). Person came, confirmed no hairdryer, said one would be delivered but no one came. We had to call 2 additional times over 2 days to finally get hairdryer. Also called because we were short towels one day, they said someone would deliver them, no one ever came.

Note: there is no elevator so if you're on the 2nd floor you will need to schlep bags up 2 flights.

Hotel does have charm, but needs updating and more staff to be able to provide timely service to guests.

Perfect location in a quant and lovely town. Restaurant recommendations were great. Met lots of travelers at breakfast to discuss our travels. We had a second floor room which was more than adequate. The manager Eric accommodated their booking error very fairly.

The hotel is old and charming. There were 30 of us traveling together. Many, many people in the group were not happy with the hotel or with their rooms. We happened to be assigned room 101, which is in the front of the building above reception and was a lovely room. Wi-fi is very slow. Breakfast is typical for this style hotel, with a small selection of cheese/cold meats/pastries/bread. The fruit was very good. I liked the hotel, but I think one's experience will depend upon the room. 101 is a very nice one!

Room Tip: 101 is a very nice room.
