Greeted by a delightful hostess. The art-Deco building with its granite and bronze staircase, beautiful lighting and classic furniture cannot fail to impress.

The bedroom was spacious, clean and comfortable with a large, heated bathroom. An added bonus was the private balcony looking out to the cathedral of Notre Dame.

Breakfast was excellent value. The location couldn't have been better with a large free public car park just behind the house. Notre Dame, the tapestry museum and the Tourist Office were all within ten minutes stroll away.

We took the recommendation of a local antique dealer to go to Arromanches, the beach code-named Gold in the D-Day landings. We followed this up with a visit to the American Cemetery - unbelievably moving.

We stayed three nights at this guest house. In room #6 for two nights and then room #1 for one night. Room #6 was the quieter of the two; they were both very nice and clean. Anthony, the owner, was very helpful. Although we did not meet in person, he was very helpful via the phone. Anthony's mother manages Le Castel Noble Guesthouse; she does not speak English. I speak a little French, which came in handy. There was not really much need to speak French, except that we needed to move from one room to another and that was difficult to communicate. Talking to Anthony on the phone helped make it a smooth transition. This guest house is lovely. Breakfast was good for France. Very good location for walking easily to town for dinner and sights, but the guest house is located on a busy street with significant traffic noise during peak commute hours; too much for us with the windows open. No problems during nonpeak commute. No air conditioning, but not needed in early Oct. Also a great base for touring the Normandie Beaches. Best view of Bayeux Cathedral is the front of the house (room #1 is in front, facing the street). Would highly recommend this beautiful lodging.

Upon arriving to Bayeux, we had no difficulty finding this charming B&B; however, as others have indicated, no one was there to check us in. I followed the sign to another family owned B&B a few doors down, and met the son. He called back to Le Castel and was able to speak to his mother and let her know that we had arrived. Upon arriving back to the B&B my wife had already arranged to have our bags taken into the B&B (don't bring them through the front door) and we met with the owner. I have a limited understanding of French, so the introductions and explanations of the "house rules" were a bit sketchy. Luckily, the son returned and spoke very good english. The house is a beautiful Victorian house centrally located. We were close to everything we needed; where we caught the van to Mont St. Michel, the Bayeux Tapestry, and Bayeux's Notre Dame Cathedral. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. The first morning we opted for the optional breakfast, but decided on croissants and coffee at a nearby bakery all the remaining days. Breakfast was an additional 11 euro for the same things we bought at half the cost.

The location of this b&b is excellent, within easy walking distance (5-10 mins) to the tourist office, ATMs, places to eat, the Bayeux Tapestry. There is free car parking available, although it is a public car park, so be aware that access to it depends on how many people are using the car park. It's quiet overnight, but there is a bit of traffic starting early in the morning - no problem, because you want to get up, eat and go out anyway. Also be aware there is no lift, and you will have to carry bags up one (or two) floors.

The house is charming and quirky, and the breakfast is very good, includes fresh baguettes, coffee, tea. I speak no French, but did learn enough to be polite, and also its easy to use Google Translate with the free Wifi to explain or ask anything more complicated!

The one thing that would put me off of staying here again was the guest access at the side entrance, a key and punch code system. I don't know what it was, there must be some trick to it. I tested it in the owner's presence and it opened fine. Of course, once I needed to get in later in the evening, when I was loathe to wake the owner, I could NOT get it to open! I had at least two dozen tries and was starting to worry about what I could do. Fortunately Madame was still awake and heard me, and came to let me in. Otherwise, who do I call, especially if I can't make myself understood? Or does one ring the doorbell very late in the evening? I felt sheepish, and like I was intruding. But to me, the hostess was very polite.

Ok, Madame Monique has no english. But for sure is possible to get along well with some good will. Walking distance from the train station (5 minutes) and city centre is one minute walking. Nice and confortable room and good breakfast for 6,50 euros per person. All in all, a wonderful and charming place to stay with very good value.
