Etap hotels are great for a cheap weekend away or an overnight stop, especially with close friends as the bunk beds are always fun. The room is extremely basic but all you really need. At 46€ per night, you can hardly go wrong.

This Etap was not very impressive. It felt old and tired and more like an old Holiday Inn converted into an Etap rather than a purpose built property. We checked-in late at about 2300 and we were accidentally given a room with only one bed. We then went back down to reception to have this corrected. This is fortunate because the toilet just stank and it filled the room with toilet odour. The next room didn’t smell like toilet but smelt like cigarettes despite being a non smoking room.

The beds were comfortable and the room was clean but the washroom was a bit manky. The shower also felt a bit grungy and was too small so the curtain often got stuck to your back.

The location was not as central as I had imagined. It is only a 10 minute walk into town, so not too bad. It is in a semi residential area but prowled with prostitutes at night. Parking is €5 per day which was reasonable and is beneath the hotel. We didn’t have breakfast but it looked quite standard.

I am still quite open to Etaps but would give this one a miss.

some how i ended up in lille on a business trip. after spending about 5 nights at another hotel around the sub-urbs of lille that left a bad taste on my mouth, i finally had a breath of fresh air when i relocated to this hotel to spend my last night before taking the train off to germany.

This hotel is well located close to the lille trainstation within walking distance. The reception was very brilliant, the rooms are clean and equiped with wi-fi internet connection, well secured and the breakfast is complete and well presented.

It is relatively quiet there and I felt at home in this place. The price is very considerate. give them a try and see.

Stayed here for one night in December 2007 to do some Christmas shopping in Lille. The hotel reception is manned 24 hours a day and there's a security lock on the front door at night, so plus points on security.

There are smoking and no-smoking rooms, and my no-smoking room was clean, if compact. Unlike another Etap I had stayed in before, this room had a separate en-suite bathroom, though everything else was essentially the same. Comfortable bed and TV with French and Belgian channels.

Breakfast is €4 and is breads, cereals, pastries, jam, etc., washed down with strong coffee.

The location of the hotel is reasonably easy to find from Lille-Europe station or the city centre and although there was a fair amount of traffic, I heard nothing.

Etap hotel in Lille - centre, rue de Coutrai is excellent value for money in the centre of Lille, next to the old district. Very basic but what would you expect for 40 euros for three per night? Hotel is clean and very quiet. Pleasant staff. Only a few minutes walk into the centre of Lille. Car parking in a secure underground car park for 4.5 euros per day.
