We thought we would treat ourselves to a fine meal as it was our first night in Paris for 10 days of beer and football during Euro 2016... this place did not disappoint.
This Italian is not the sort you can stumble across but we found it due to the trip advisor reviews. You enter through a shop which sells the most amazing looking authentic Italian food. You go down a small flight of stairs and the restaurant is in a small basement with a mere half a dozen tables. We were greeted by a very friendly Italian waiter who was the absolute body double of Ramiro Funes Mori (Argenina and Everton centre back). His English wasn't fantastic but we shared a common bond... football, Italy had just won that day and England the day before so we were in jovial mood.
He provided us with ample bread and offered us a free tomato soup with mascarponi in to get us going. A great little touch to get our pallets going. To start we had deep fried mozzarella balls which came with chopped tomato and onion. I have never tasted tomato like this, beautifully sweet they were simply perfect. For main I chose pasta with a arrabbiata sauce and pancetta. Again simply perfect. Our man offered me as much parmesan as I liked which is always a winner. The pasta was clearly home made and cooked al dente, as it should be! I can not fault the food we had at all. I have been to Rome, Florence and Venice in recent years and it matched everything I experienced over there.
Take a bow Funes.
