Description: "AN EXEMPLARY BACKGROUND - the history of Parisian tea rooms is closely linked to the history of the Ladurée family. Everything began in 1862, when Louis Ernest Ladurée, man of the Southwest of France, miller of his state, created a bakery that became a pastry shop, at 16, rue Royale in Paris. The highly theatrical decoration will be entrusted to Jules Cheret. THE FEMININE TOUCH - under the second empire, with the development of Parisian cafes, Jeanne Souchard, wife of Ernest Ladurée, had the idea of mixing genres: the café and pastry shop, giving birth to one of the first of the great Parisian salons. INFINITELY MORE THAN A PASTRY SHOP - this place full of history with a refined atmosphere charmed David Holder and his father Francis, founder of the Holder group. They decided to buy and then promote and expand the famous Establishment, the Mecca of Parisian culinary creation."

“Macarons to go”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2012

Decent lunch (prosciutto salad, sparkling lemonade) at inflated prices. Their macarons were good but not off the charts. We tried quite a few different flavors -- our favorites included raspberry and pistachio. A 30-minute wait to dine in the celadon green decorated tea salon (very tight seating, slow service) at Laduree's La Madeleine location.
Our recommendation: buy their macarons & pastries, but skip dining in the salon.

“Quintessential Paris salon de thé”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2012

Having breakfast or tea at Ladurée makes me feel like a princess. I love the romantic ambience of the little salon which, with its painted ceiling and carved woodwork, dates to 1871. Tea is served from hot silver teapots into lovely china cups as you indulge in Ladurée's famous sweets. The macarons are divine, as are the breakfast pastries (I'm fond of the Champs Élysées breakfast) and the cakes (my favorite is the Ladurée Saint-Honorés, a tower of flaky pastry, raspberries, and rose-flavored whipped cream). Like Fauchon, this is not a place to save money. This is where we go to take our time and savor every bite. Know that there is often a line out the door, starting in the late morning and throughout the afternoon. And the seating is very tight (which is typical in Paris), so if you want space and the most relaxed atmosphere, come early or during off-times. But do come, and enjoy your petit déjeuner or petit goûter!

“A lovely treat!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2012

As we were window shopping along the lovely champ elysees and not purchasing much of anything, we by luck happened upon Ladure and I practically squealed! Well worth the 20 minute queue to select a bag full of goodies. They were delicious, and although pricey, worth the experience when in Paris. If nothing else, go visit their window display!
