We rented a small flat across the street & eagerly peered in the window of this delightful shop. We popped in for a late lunch & were welcomed warmly by Laurent and Florence. We enjoyed wine & a small plate of fresh tomatoes. Delicious! On a whim my husband asked if they would prepare a wine tasting evening paired with treats and snacks for us. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip to France. Educational, romantic, beautiful food and wine prepared to perfection. It is worth going out of your way to discover this small gem tucked away on tiny Rue Saint Sabine, just off Bastille. Fabulous experience!

I first visited this store/wine cave/café soon after they after they opened. My sandwich and glass of wine (at 3:00 in the afternoon, when it’s not always easy to find a bite to eat) were the high point of the day, and at 9.50€ a bargain.

Owner Laurent Pataille walked me through the ingredients: Noir de Bigorre ham from the northern slopes of the Pyrenees; Laguiolle cheese, pronounced “la-yol”, similar to Cantal and made in the Aveyron; on delicious tourte de meule, a whole grain sourdough bread. His wine recommendation: Fitou, (Champs de Soeurs 2011)— a luscious red apellation from Languedoc-Roussillon.

I've been back since then to eat, shop and taste wine, and even with the proliferation of wine bars in Paris, it remains a favorite spot.

Although living around the corner, we had not visited this place before but we will be back. There is no wine menu but the knowledgeable owners ask you what kind of wine you like and then bring one or two suggestions to try. We had a white and a red one and both of them were delicious. To accompany the wine we chose a "planche" with a meat and cheese selection and an "aligot" (a hot mix of potatoes and tomme cheese). It came with fresh baguette and they explained what we were going to eat.

All the wine and food comes from the South-Ouest of France, where the owners are from. There is also a small shop with delicacies and wine. Prices are not outrageous but up to Paris' standards. It is worth it though!

We stumbled on this place late one evening last year, unfortunately just as they were closing for the night. But having had a chat with the couple who own it, who are really nice people with an obvious passion for what they do, we made sure we returned when we were next in Paris.

We stopped for a leisurely lunch on a Saturday, and after being given an informative run down of the menu and the provenance of all of the produce listed, settled on a couple of "planches" of charcuterie, along with a couple of glasses of wine and a side of potato & cheese puree. The wine was the suggestion of the owner (they have a pretty exhaustive selection), and was an excellent choice, complementing the charcuterie beautifully and bringing out the best in the flavours. The produce itself was of extremely high quality and was a real treat, while the atmosphere was very relaxed and convivial. As I've alluded to, the owners are more than happy to answer any questions about the food and wine, and offer excellent advice, and their passion for the ingredients really helps make this a lovely place to eat. On top of that, as well as being able to eat in house, there is some fantastic produce that you can buy to take home with you.

On our walk through the 11th Arrondissement in Paris we found this place. It called attention to us because of its really nice interior; shelves full of wine and gourmet food and some comfortable seating places that can be seen through the big and bright windows.
We ate a delicious mixed plate of different ham, salami and cheeses with baguette and a french version mashed-potatoes combined with cheese. Really tasteful accompanied with some nice red wine. As a desert we got two cakes. The homemade-dark chocolate cake is on of the best I've ever had! Really worth a try.
We had a great evening there, you can feel that the owners care a lot for this place and prepare and explain everything with love and passion. They know what they're doing!
I can only recommend you to try yourselves!
P.S. For everyone staying longer in Paris: monthly wine tastings are organized too.
