“The oldest part of Paris given new life”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2012

I have only recently got to know this area, and I love it. There is so much history in these streets. Nowadays it has all been given a facelift which is wonderful, with smart shops, boutiques and restaurants. Yet, the atmosphere is such that I find this area of Paris to be one of my favourites now, and i feel quite at home there.

“Interesting and atmosperic area of Paris”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2012

Staying here allowed us to visit outside the normal tourist hotspots but everything was still close to hand, including the Seine and Notre Dame etc.We tended to walk around and found places very accessible. However the area is expensive to eat out and wine in particular was a bit of a shock- nothing under 23 euros a bottle and we noticed that often couples only had a glass rather than a bottle. Full meals were the best value but we did find italian restaurants good vale. Would recommend a visit to the City museum of paris (free) and pere la Chaise cemetery.

“A GREAT AREA”

The Marais is a really interesting area of the city with many beautiful buildings and of course the Place des Vosges which is one of the most impressive squares in Paris.
