I have mixed feelings on the Cluny Square. The place we usually stay in Paris was booked up so tried this place for the first time. I missed the very small print right at the bottom of my booking confirmation informing me of the construction work going on so that was a bit of a disappointment. The hotel is shrouded in scaffolding and plastic meaning on a weekday you can't open your curtains without coming face to face with a builder.

THE GOOD:
The location is fantastic in that you're a stone's throw from great shops, cultural sights, a couple of metro stops and plenty of places to eat - you are however on the cross section of two busy roads, so expect traffic noise.
They're made a real effort to decorate the place stylishly
All staff were very friendly and helpful, apart from one woman.
The room and bathroom were beautifully clean

THE BAD:
The bathroom was so small as to almost be claustrophobic and anyone of a larger size would have trouble moving around in it. The shower curtain rail was fixed at a slant so the shower curtain always slid open.
The breakfast is overpriced in my opinion - 12 euros to crowd round a coffee table or sit with it on your lap - just pop outside, plenty of places will give you breakfast just a nice and much cheaper
The walls are so thin that we could even hear neighbours unzipping something and tearing up paper!
Weaker visitors might have a problem with there being no lift from street level up to the lobby on the first floor.

Overall - not bad but it wouldn't ever be my first choice.

Room Tip: Room 204 has a TINY bathroom - be warned!

We booked in January when they had not posted the hotel was under renovation. We choose the hotel for location and balcony. The location is very good but that is where the positive ends. The hotel is under construction so scaffolding drapes the outside of the entire building so not only can you not access the balcony you can't open a window without construction dust entering into the small room. After suffering through the first night with a hot and stuffy room we asked the front desk staff to have our air conditioning fixed. When we arrived back after touring about for the day it was running but a foul smell was in the air. In hind site we recognize they had not flushed out the system from the previous season and we now had airborne mold creating a foul smell and I believe is the cause for me getting very sick of which the symptoms started that day.
I went to the front desk the next day and complained that the room was not meeting our expectations. They gentleman at the front desk said he would call the manager. When she arrived I realized it is the less than service oriented or happy individual who was on the front desk when we checked in. She says the rooms are already discounted because of the construction and she upgraded us to a balcony. A balcony is what booking.com says were are to receive so no upgrade in my mind and even if it was what is the value of an upgrade you can't use?
In the end she gives us a small discount (20 euro per night) that will buy coffee for two in Paris.
In summary, room is very small, don't know who designed the shower (caution you could be scalded) we didn't get what we had booked and staff are less than happy to see you. This is not our first trip to Paris or France. We love the country but we won't be returning to this hotel!

My wife and son shared two rooms at this hotel for 5 nights. Except for its location, this hotel has little to recommend it. The rooms are so small as to be frankly uncomfortable for two. I realize small rooms are the norm in Paris, but this is beyond the pale. The breakfasts were mediocre at best and frankly failed to match the attractive pictures on the hotel’s website. But two other factors really steamed us.

First, the entire outside was covered in scaffolding, a fact during our stay that the hotel never bothered to inform us of when we booked. This led to two issues. One is that workmen could suddenly appear outside our windows without warning, which means we could never open out curtains. The stay was like being relegated to a small, dark cave. Another is that from early morning and throughout the day we were subjected to extremely loud, incessant hammering and drilling. Very unpleasant.

Second, one service any hotel should be able to provide is obtaining a taxi for checkout. We had large bags and had to get across town to a car rental office. The person on duty claimed to be unable to secure a cab by phone (or couldn’t be bothered) and instead directed us to a nearby stand where we were assured taxis would be available. They were not. After 30 min of failure to flag one, we dragged our luggage through the metro and across town. Lots of steps, lots of weakling, etc. Also very unpleasant.

Can't say enough about the friendly service, delicious coffee and breakfast everyday! Clean, quite balcony room with a view, in the heart of Paris. Nice market with inexpensive yet the best wine, around the block and pastry across the street! We could not ask for a better stay in Paris! The weather was cold but we received warm and welcoming service everyday. Free wi-fi, refrig and t.v. in room. Cant wait to go back. M. J.

Totally uninterested staff. The room was typically small but extremely hot and the air conditioning not working, but hey who cares… not them. Room and bathroom not particularly clean. Breakfast served at front reception on coffee tables. The location may be great but it is very noisy and this is Paris so lots of great locations. Very over priced and would not recommend.
