Paris has always been an immigrant city, and in this neighborhood you will see modern immigration including lots of interesting shops and food stalls. See something different. Very safe.

I'd been to Paris many years ago and I really did not like it. Fast forward 12 years and my aunt and visited and while it is congested and overpopulated, this time around was awesome. I booked us a Black Paris Tour and after reading about Goutte D'or ( Little Africa) we spent the day there and it was wonderful. If you love immersing yourself in different cultures and want to explore an area or district that most african americans don't know exists, visit. We were able to have dresses and skirts made beautifully by a talented and creative Nigerian Tailor. Boyo was pleasant, accommodating and an all around good person. My aunt and I also purchased fabric and he's designing and making us additional outfits and will send them. The 18th district is quite diverse within the African community. There are several fabric shops and open air markets. The vibe is eclectic and lively. Must do!!!

The easiest way to arrive to "la Goutte d'Or" (the golden drop) is by underground. Arriving you would experience how the city if hosting different people and you will be prepared to the outside world. The inhabitants of the neighbourhood come largely from Mediterranean, African and Asian countries, so that you would be pleased to drink a coffee in a bistrot together with an old man wearing a "boubou" or to buy a telephone in a shop in which several language are used. Not the best place for Marie Le Pen or her friends, but a nice place to visit and to stay, with different smells, different foods, different musics and different people. Just 3 km from Notre Dame (and the percourse from Notre Dame to La Goutte d'Or is really pleasant!)
