“Noisy hôtel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2012

I stayed only one night in this hôtel

Well located , close to the Eiffel tower, Nice to visit Paris.

The rooms are very small and you have to use stairs because there is no lift.

Moreover it is à little bit noisy, you can hear what happen in the neighbours room.

I have just come back from 2 nights in Paris, staying at Hotel Amelie and I have absolutely no complaints!

The room was lovely and clean, spacious, for a single room. Nice bathroom, good bed, quiet and safe.

The staff were very friendly, willing to have a chat and help out in anyway. The location was very safe, SO CLOSE to the Eiffel Tower. The only downside is there is little to no reasonable priced restaurants in the area, meals were around 20 euros for a main. But for the budget conscious travelling, many supermarkets with a large antipasto range and cheap wines!

If I had to make one complaint, it was the lack of kettle in the room for an evening tea/means to warm up! Quickly rectified with a trip to Starbucks (yes I know, sacrilege in Europe, but sometimes a girl just needs an earl grey!)

All in all a very positive experience and a perfect way to end my European adventure.

I booked this hotel thinking I was going to have a time of my life. When I got to the hotel, I was shocked to hear that the receptionist was telling me that my room is on the 4th floor and there is no lift and you have to use the stairs. After miles and miles driving we needed to unpack and rest instead we are being told to run up and down flights of stairs all day. I checked the rooms out, they were worse then a horses stable. The space is restricted. So small there is barely room to move arround. I cancelled my reservation as these problems were not shown online. They charged me for one night. I left the hotel and luckily found a hotel ( hotel jardins de eiffel) on the same street with much better services.

I've stayed here quite a few times now, and probably will again, because it's been a very positive experience every time: The staff is nice and helpful and the check in took 1 minute. The rooms are small, but they are more than big enough for what you normally do in a hotel, sleep, watch tv, eat a baguette with cheese and ham bought from the nearby store and bakery. Afterwards have a café at the bar at one of the nearby bistros (you save a euro this way) The bathroom is also small, but clean, you get fresh towels every day, some have bath tubs which is excellent after a lot of walking. (we asked for this room and got it). There's a small fridge with a mini bar, stuff it full of your own shopping for eg. breakfast instead.

They have wifi up to the second floor, which is way faster in the lobby though, some of the nearby hotels have open solutions as well. The street is very quiet during the night, the area is safe, and it's a very short walk to several metro stations and sight such as the Eifell Tower, the Army Museum, Napoleon's Tomb, and the Sewer Museum (cheap and cool). You can also take buss no 69 across Paris to reach central and eastern areas, and the no 80 bus to reach south west or eg. Saint Lazare or Montmartre in the north.

Some of the rooms are a little shabby, but they are renovating at the moment, during our visit the whole first floor was under way. The hot water can be a little difficult at times as well, so you have to pay attention when showering, suddenly it turns too cold or too hot.

I'd recommend this place to those who don't care about lifting their suitcases ONCE up two-three floors (this complaint pisses me off unless you have some kinda handicap), if you don't need a huge room to sleep at night, and if you have a certain budget and want to spend your money shopping, sightseeing, or eating well. The location is a huge plus as well. Check out all the different hotel booking sites for the cheapest deal, they vary a lot, even the hotel's own website.

Room Tip: Might be more quiet with rooms facing the backyard, but I've never had any problems with noise f...

The 16 simple, clean and basic rooms of this property and lack of amenities are tolerable because it is in a superb, upmarket location of Rue Cler, near the wonderful marketplace and shopping within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower. You will immediately feel immersed in Parisian life. You can explore many of the city’s sights on foot in this prime location.
The neighborhood is quiet, not any nightlife but the metro is only a few blocks away or you can walk to St Germain to experience nightime cafe culture.
