Hotel Trianon Rive Gauche
Ranked #617 of 1,805 Hotels in Paris
Reviewed 13 July 2012

I stayed at this hotel in July 2012 during a quick business trip. The hotel is a very typical Parisian tourist class hotel that is suitable for folks for prefer to spend their money on meals and attractions during their stay in Paris rather than on a fancy hotel.

The rooms are small and so are the washrooms when compared to North American hotels of similar pedigree but its size is very typical for Parisian hotels. My bathroom had a shower that was narrow and also had no door; one simply walked into it. Probably not great for someone who is larger.

The front desk was friendly each time I interacted with them and they were kind enough to book a restaurant reservation for me.

One definite bonus about this hotel that was mentioned by everyone is the location. It is close to what most people visiting Paris as tourists would like to visit. As well, this hotel is close to two RER stations (St.Michel and Luxembourg) for those who wish to take the train into Paris (9.25 euros per person) versus a taxi (45 euros per trip).

Overall: not a bad hotel for those looking for affordable accommodations on a moderate budget.

We stayed Friday and Saturday night. We arrived a little early (1.30pm) and our room was not ready so we went for lunch in the very pretty Jardin du Luxembourg. We returned to the hotel over an hour later to find we had a room on the ground floor just behind reception and right by the luggage room which had a very squeaky door. Luckily we realised this before unpacking and so headed back to reception where they were happy to change our room for us. However we had to wait 30mins for the new room! The new room was on the 1st floor and on the right hand side of the hotel. We were happy to be moved but we were placed right next to the lift! However we realised we had lost enough time changing rooms and this was eating into our sightseeing time! So we after hearing the lift go and up and down a couple of times we decided to stay put.
I can't fault the hotel for location - lots of places to eat and drink nearby, easy connection to Gare Du Nord on RER, easy walk to Seine and Notre Dame and to St Germain. Whilst we weren't in the room too much as we were out in the beautiful city, we weren't that impressed with the hotel. Our new room beside the lift seemed to have a damp smell, with no shower curtain the bathroom got extremely wet. I would have thought this had started to affect the carpet which was the cause of the smell. The WiFi was intermittent. The room was a little on the small side but as we didn't spend much time there it didnt matter. We seems to hear about 4 bathrooms around us as every time a toilet flush we heard a loud sucking sound! Oh and in neither room did we experience a view like in the photos on here as were lucky to be high enough! I suspect people that book this hotel through Eurostar might not get the best rooms!
All in all we had a comfortable nights sleep but the only reason I would recommend this hotel would be due to the location.

Room Tip: Ask for one high up to be in with a chance of a view.

Dear ClareEC,
First of all, I would like to thank you for posting a review regarding your stay at the Best Western Hotel Trianon Rive Gauche.
All comments are important to us, positve or negative, as they are the best way to improve our service. Everyday we set ourselves our dear guests' having an ideal stay as an objective.
I'm pleased to let you know that the wifi access has already been fixed.
The origin of the bookings does not matter, and all are processed equally. Please ask for a room with a view for your next reservation. Unfortunately, there isn't a Tower view in all rooms, and even if we do our best, it is not always possible to allocate a view.
I'm really sorry for your disappointment, please accept my apologies.
Warmest regards,
Mrs Veronique ROYER,
Manager.

Stayed here with my teen daughter and her friend just one night. The triple room on third floor was comfy with wonderful views. Windows opened wide, so we got good air (had to close, however, when it started raining hard late at night); bathroom comfortable and clean. Room was not ready for quite a long time, so we went for a late lunch and walked around the neighborhood. Staff gave us a complimentary breakfast to make up for the inconvenience. It was a good meal with ample choices to suit all three of us. Definitely hope to stay there next time.

Stayed here two nights and the location was great. As other reviewers have noted, there are a lot of restaurants and shops nearby. There is also a metro stop not far from the hotel. I found the front desk staff friendly and helpful. They reserved an airport shuttle ("navette") for me which arrived exactly on time and was considerably less expensive than doing the taxi and then the Air France car from Montparnasse. The bathtub is very deep making it difficult to climb into for those of us who are short or for those who are less agile.

I was in room 702 which had no view but was very quiet. The bed was fine and the A/C worked well. The bathroom was good, but the bathtub & shower have only a very narrow piece of glass separating the tub and shower from the room. This may require some getting used to so as not to flood the rest of the room.

The location is the main selling point as it is just across from the Place de la Sorbonne and a few picturesque and reasonably priced restaurants in the Place. For book lovers, Rue des Ecoles is a short walk away with a number of bookstores, including Presence Africaine and Harmattan. These are among the most important publishers and book sellers of African fiction and nonfiction in the world. There are also camping stores along Rue des Ecoles.

This is a good 3-star hotel especially given Paris prices. I booked directly with the hotel on their website for a little under $200/night.

Traveled with 15 and 16 year old grand-daughter and niece and this was a great hotel for our one week stay. The location was fabulous, close to Metros, our bank, good patisserie, and shopping for the girls. Our triple room was a good size by Paris standards and it was perfectly clean. We did have a shower door in our bathtub, so did not have difficulty showering. I travel to Europe frequently and know to bring extra hangers for the closet. The beds were extremely comfortable Having the tea kettle was perfect for us tea drinkers to enjoy with pain d' chocolate and croissants each morning from patisserie just around the corner.. Daily breakfast for three of us cost 7 euros. Our room #402 faced Rue de Vaugirard and it sometimes was a bit noisy from traffic, but the girls enjoyed the little balcony to check out the Paris teenagers from the high school across the street!

The staff was gracious, helpful, efficient and friendly. They all spoke English which was so helpful. Having use of the computers in the lobby was a great way for us to keep in touch with friends and family back home. Arrangements made 24 hours before departure with the front desk for shuttle to CDG airport was flawless.

I would most definitely stay at this hotel again!
