“Spacious room and comfy bed!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 April 2012

Stayed here for 4 nights and we flew in from Madrid. Took a cab instead of the train as we had 3 heavy luggages! Taxi fare was €67 as we got stuck in heavy traffic. The Gare de Lyon train station is just down the street from the hotel and its so convenient to move around with it. But being first timer at the station, we were so confused with the lines and didn't know where to take the train as the station was huge! There is also another station called Gare de Australitz which is just behind the hotel and have to cross a bridge to get there.
The hotel room is great! We had the room with balcony and was facing the street. Not too noisy at night. What I love about Holiday Inns are the pillows...they have soft or firm pillows upon your request. We did have slight problem getting though the receptionist via our room phone through out our stay, it was always on engage tone! One night, our TV was not working and my hubby had to call housekeeping and got them to get the reception to call us back.
We didn't try the buffet breakfast and ate at the cafe nearby the station. The cafes have breakfast set menu as low as €5. On our last night, we decided to try La'Europian restaurant just beside the train station and it was worth it. Dinner set menu for €33 was affordable as it came with wine, coffee, starter, main & dessert!
Overall, the hotel has good service, staff was attentive to your request and friendly too. Room has the warm feeling and clean. And the location is good for people who depend on public transport in Paris. Oh yes, there is also a Carrefour nearby.

Coming from Bern, Switzerland via TGV Lyria, last stop Gare de Lyon, decided to stay in this hotel and we were not disappointed. The hotel is just 2-3 minutes walk from the station. Check-in was quick and front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. With high ceiling and adequately lighted, the hotel looks grand. We were given a room with a balcony facing the street. At first, we were apprehensive of the noise coming from outside but we didn't hear any. Our room looks like it had just been renovated and I just loved the glass panels between our room and the bathroom. Some rooms in our floor are under renovation but we didn't hear any noise. Breakfast was adequate but expensive.
Since it is located very near Gare de Lyon, going around Paris is very easy with the Metro and RER and inexpensive. Lots of cafes and restaurants near the hotel.
We asked for a taxi to bring us to the airport but were surprised that they called a private car transfer. Had to pay extra.
Definitely would come back.

I spent 3 days in this Hotel and loved it. Excellent facilitiies, the rooms look sparkling new and modern. Good furniishing. The best thing is the location. The Railway station is a 2 mins by walk and there are loads of cafes around.

Would definitely recommend both for business and pleasure.

I chose the hotel for a w/e break for our family with two teenagers as we were arriving by train at the Gare De Lyon and had booked seats at the Opera. The hotel is located between the two so was perfect for us. The area has improved quite a bit (although there is still a sex shop next door) and has two good supermarkets within a stone's throw, not to mention two creperies, a decent boulangerie and numerous brasseries. So if you don't like the food in the hotel (which we didn't actually try apart from breakfast which was fine), you will not starve. Located in the Gare De Lyon is the world famous "Le Train Bleu" which is a real (visual) treat if you want to splurge!
We had a couple of rooms on the road side on the fourth floor. The insulation was pretty good and we did not hear any neighbours. In fact I thought we had been the only people in the hotel until I saw others at breakfast. It was a real pleasure to find a hotel with king sized beds which were pretty comfortable. The lighting in the rooms is excellent with lots of environmentally friendly options. The panel between the bedroom and the bathroom was glass so a light on in the bathroom offered even more light to the bedroom (which wouldn't be so welcome if you were sharing with someone who wanted to sit in the bath and not disturb their partner) but we liked it. The bathrooms are small but the shower pressure was good and a small engineering problem I had with the shower was remedied swiftly by a charming engineer who was more than happy to help.
My only reservation about the bedrooms is that you would not want to have small children in a room on their own. The rooms have a small balcony accessed by a french door from the bedroom. There is nothing to stop an adventurous child from opening the doors and I would hate to think what might happen.
The hotel is located near the metro- a couple of stops to the Gare du Nord and on the main line to the Louvre, Place de La Concorde etc so really easy to get around.
I had booked and pre-paid an extra room by mistake but the management called up to confirm that I would be refunded before I had had the chance to ask. That was quite impressive! It was not a busy week-end for the hotel so we didn't really get to the management under pressure, but everyone we met was most helpful.

I found this hotel clean and comfortable. I wouldn't say that it was anything special and was missing an element of luxury but it was friendly and had everything I needed for my one night stay on a work trip.

I was working for the most part but the hotel did seem well located and near to tourist attractions.

I slept very soundly.
