“A hotel that you will always come back to when in Paris”
Reviewed 31 January 2012

Been in Paris from 25 Jan. for three days and choose this hotel due to past satisfied experience. Excellent front desk staff and Concierge, Coffee shop and house keeping. All staff are ready to help with a big smile. Good location that you can see Paris attractions in a walking distance. good value for money. Thus, I will always recommend this hotel for Paris visitors.

Room Tip: I recommend rooms with street view so you can enjoy the view

My wife and I are just back after a great weekend break in Paris. The Hotel was in a perfect location. It is within walking distance of all the best sights in central Paris. I should say that I will be 60 on my next birthday and I found it no problem to get to the sights. The staff were friendly and could speak good english. We did not have much interaction with the staff, but that was by choice. The room was clean, warm and nicely decorated. If I had to say something negative it would be that the room was a bit on the small size, but then again it is Paris.
I would stay there again in a heart beat and I am not easily pleased.
We hired Paris Shuttle to collect us from the airport and bring us back,I would recommend that service as well. It takes away all the hassle, brings you right to the Hotels front door and brings you right back to Terminal 1.It does what it says on the box.

Room Tip: We had room 409. That room is to the back of the hotel, you would be better off with a room to the fr...

Location right near the Triumphant Arch and Champs Elysees. The Metro station is also a few steps away. The staff were very friendly and were very pleased to speak English. I stayed in a standard room, which exceeded my expectations. My room was very nice and the hotel is very clean.

After an overnight flight, we arrived at the hotel around 10:00am and as expected, our room wasn’t ready. We were told it would be ready around 2:00. It wasn’t. About an hour later, we were finally taken to our room. After that, everything was excellent! We booked a suite and it did not disappoint. The bedroom is wholly separated by two sliding doors and allows for complete privacy from the sitting room. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and is accessible from the hallway to the sitting room or the bathroom. Furnishings were both lovely and comfortable. The king bed was relatively comfortable and had very nice linens and four pillows. There was tea and coffee making facilities and a minibar that was restocked everyday.

The suite was on the first floor above the lobby and bar. The whole time we were there we heard no noise from downstairs or from the street below when the windows were closed. There were French doors from the bedroom and from the sitting room which opened onto a huge balcony. It was furnished with enough resin wicker love seats and chairs to seat 6 people. It overlooked Ave de Friedland and the Arc de Triomphe.

The first night there we were too tired to go looking for a restaurant so we ate at Bivouac Café in the hotel. It’s a beautiful space for drinks or dinner. The food, however, did not live up to the atmosphere. Neither of our meals were cooked. My husbands steak was not just rare, but raw in the middle. My salmon was also raw in the middle. None of the sides were hot. We also ordered room service a couple of times and the food was excellent. The portion sizes for breakfast (again, room service) were insane. Two breakfasts were ordered but enough food for 6 people was delivered. We gave it our best try!

We were lucky enough with the weather that we were able to sit outside a couple of times and have a drink after a long day of sightseeing. The Bivouac patio has nice comfortable seating and catches the late afternoon sun.

The staff was outstanding. They really took pride in their ability to provide us with anything we wanted or needed. I will say that as a Canadian, you really have to get used to the reserved nature of the French. At first it seems like they couldn’t care less about you but at our first request and attempt at speaking very poor French, they couldn’t have been more helpful. Excellent service. Maybe they felt sorry for my inability to pronounce any French word properly.

We went to Normandy for 4 days and when we returned, we weren’t able to get the same suite. We were instead given an even bigger suite on the 5th floor. It had a courtyard view which was quite pretty if not as dramatic as the view in the first room. The bed was even more comfortable. The bathroom was even bigger with 2 showers. There was twice as much closet space and shelving. Both rooms were gorgeous and spacious and I really couldn’t fault either.

If I were to return to Paris, I would not hesitate to book this hotel again and I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially the suites. In fact, I can’t wait!

Room Tip: If you can, request a room overlooking Ave de Friedland - street noise is not an issue

You can't beat the napoleon for location, 2 mins from the arc de triomphe. 4 of us (2 and 2 kids)travelled and therefore got a suite which was perfect size wise and extremely well appointed. Some of the common areas are a little tired although there were some minor renovations going on when we were there. Prices are high, we got a great deal through a booking engine so a search is worthwhile. The prices in the restaurant and bar are equally high, although they are comparable to other parisian hotels.
Overall we found it an extremely comfortable and convenient base to explore Paris

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Behind the history of the hotel, hides a love story.... The love story between a rich Russian businessman, Alexander Pavlovich Kliaguine, and a young french student who first met at a "literature salon" in 1928. It was love at first sight. In order to introduce her to Parisian "high society" at the time, he bought a hotel in the prestigious 8th arrondissement and gave it to her as a wedding present. Still today the hotel belongs to the Kliaguine family. Today, following a large renovation program, the hotel is proud to announce its 5th star. With its unique location, just a short walk away from the Champs-Elysees and the Arc de Triomphe, the Hotel Napoleon is one of the most legendary hotels of the city: a fine address to discover and rediscover. Our 52 rooms and 50 Suites are all designed in the Empire style with newly refurbished and modernized colors. A Parisian atmosphere still remains in the Hotel. The Napoleon includes also a Bar- Restaurant: the Bivouac Cafe, 8 meeting spaces and a fitness room. ... more   less
