Where else would anyone choose to spend their 25th Wedding anniversary but beautiful Paris ?

I choose this hotel based on the superb reviews on trip advisor - and we were certainly not disappointed in any way!

It is located on the edge of the city but once you work out the subway, you can get to Arc de Triomphe for example in 10 to 12 minutes easy. A small Metro station is literally a few steps away and the street feels really safe too.

The rooms - we were given a beautiful decorated spacious end room, very modern, spotlessly clean and quiet - the photos on here are very accurate. The bed was large and really comfy with a selection of pillows and the bathroom was very clean. Water was piping hot 24/7 during our three night stay.

The buffet breakfast is located downstairs, is of a high quality, with a wide selection of pastries, hams, juices; it was included in our room rate. Breakfast staff were lovely and helpful. There is also and excellent French bakery just a few doors down the road.
The manager on duty and receptionist went out of their way to help with booking a boat trip and advice on local restauants; as well as with the loan of a laptop; this was much appreciated! Their personal service makes such a difference to many other 'chain' type hotels-I had been using a web traslation to communicate by email and the manager recognised my name when we were there.

All in all we were delighted with our choice to stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent value hotel in a quiet but easy to travel from area, away from the noise and high prices of the very centre of town. If you are a shopper -do visit the Marais district - beautiful boutiques and restaurants!

If you are arriving into CDG airport you can get a direct 'town' bus. I imagine it could get a bit crowded, however we arrived on a Sunday with a small case. Takes longer than the metro/diect bus but you don't need to change trains and/ or use metro and only 6 euro per person - even cheaper if you buy the 10 trip 'carte' metro tickets - you will need 3 per person per journey. Drops you at the Place de Nations and you walk straight up the street -5mins and you are at the hotel! great if you are arriving in the evening. Just be aware it leaves from the other side of the square infont of a fast food chain.

Will certainly be recommending this to friends and family!

I have never posted a review here before, but had such a great experience, I felt I had to take the time. I know, as an American, we're sometimes not sure what to expect in a European hotel. This one, I assure you, will meet or exceed all your standards. In fact, we stayed in a nice hotel in NYC the night before arriving in Paris and it was half the size of the one at Le Grand Hotel Francais and not nearly as nice. The room here was large and well-appointed with a big bed, great bathroom/ shower, iPod dock, couch, bureau and a small balcony looking out on a quaint street.
The price was right, with a good breakfast available downstairs and a bottle of champagne awaiting us on arrival.
Be aware that you're not going to walk out the front door of this hotel and see the Eiffel Tower, but that's actually a huge plus. For one thing, this hotel is in a "real Parisian neighborhood". There are great restaurants and cafes all around this area and in Place de la Nation, which is 2 blocks away. The metro station is almost across the street with one train taking you to the best stop for the Eiffel Tower.
But the real treat at this establishment is the hotel staff. They put up with my terrible French, gave us directions everywhere, made great restaurant recommendations, ordered us cabs and made us reservations at the cabaret "Paradis Latin" (great show) one night. Ziad (spelling?), the manager was extremely generous and attentive as was Oceane (sp?) who made great recommendations.
If you don't want to stay with the hordes in the tourist area and want a real Parisian experience, this is the place. Bon voyage.

We spent 2 nights at the Grand Francais while taking advantage of a long layover in Paris. Our corner room was lovely! Not overdone, just well appointed, clean and comfortable. The free wifi was faster and easier to access than many of the other hotels we stayed in on this trip. The front desk staff was terrific! We had lots of questions and they were extremely helpful. There are 2 Metro stops nearby, making it very convenient to get around the city. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel looks completely renovated and the clerks are very nice. The room was no bigger than a matchbox but beatifully decorated and furnished. It had a plasma TV and an Ipod dock. The bathroom was also very nice and modern. Everything was very clean and courtesy slippers were provided.
It is a bit far from downtown but if you don´t mind travelling, there are 2 subway station in a 3 blocks radious. You can get anywhere using the subway. The trip to the louvre is about 20 minutes. The neighbourhood is very nice and calm, with plenty of good restaurants around. Breakfast was good too. IT was expensive, 140EU, like everything in Paris.

This was a return visit to Grand Hotel Francais and it's still as good as I remember. Just a really good hotel with excellent customer service. For a Paris hotel, the rooms are a good size. The bathroom is slightly small but the shower is great!

The location is also really good - really close to the metro making it so easy to get around.

If you're going to Paris, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor are a little quieter.
