so my husband and i went on a last minute trip to paris. was able to book this hotel just 1 month in advance. it was more expensive than i was hoping to spend, about $275/night with taxes. but no complaints. if i could have booked a couple months in advance i probably would have stayed in a VRBO. but of what was available it was the best cost, best location that i could surmise from reviews. and i wasn't disappointed when i arrived via the garde de lyon train station. just a short walk to the hotel, this neighborhood is charming and full of adorable restaurants. a cute boutique hotel with just 4 or so floors. we stayed in a double room overlooking the rear of the building on the second floor. the room was more spacious than expected, the bed was very comfortable. the bathroom was small, but the sink, shower, toliet were very new and modern. the best part was the double french windows that opened up! so parisian - or at least what an american expects. the staff was very friendly and all spoke english. this is literally 1 block from the canal and less than a 5 minute walk to the metro station (bastille). this is a great location, just south and on the eastern border of the marais. i would recommend this neighborhood restaurant - Chez Janou - must try, small, bustling and very authentic. you can't go wrong staying here. i promise you'll enjoy!
Tiny rooms but to be expected in Paris - very clean and good value. Steps to Bastille metro with 3 metro lines was handy to get around. Breakfast is E12 so we bought at Supermarche down the street. Easy access to CDG airport via Air France shuttle to Gare Lyon and then easy departure to Gare du Nord for trains out of town. All in all, met our needs well.
Too bad they couldn't control the unusual rainy weather (all week long!!).
Our room was directly on rue de Lyon but had the most amazing sound proofing windows that block most of the street noise. It wasn't a problem at all - we could hear the neighbours more than the cars.
We needed to stay somewhere close to the Opera Bastille and this hotel was just across the road. Despite the Place de la Bastille being a busy, bustling place we were not bothered by noise from traffic or crowds which meant we could rest when we needed and find good food and drink in nearby restaurants without a long schlep back at night. Close to the river, we took some lovely walks and managed to pack in loads of sight-seeing using local transport links too. In particular we used the Batobus service for which the Jardin des Plantes stop was close by.
Breakfast was fine with a good selection of things available (including pastries, cereals, cheeses and meats) but there is no restaurant at this hotel so you do need to eat out although, as I wrote above, there are some really great places very close by. We had two fabulous meals at Bofinger's, just off the Place de la Bastille and would probably have gone back again if our stay had been longer!
Staff at the hotel were friendly and even offered to hold on to our luggage after we checked out so that we could spend the day sight-seeing until our departure time without having to drag it around with us.
We would use this hotel again.
The hotel was very well presented, stylish, and very clean. The staff were all welcoming and pleasant. The continental breakfast had lots of choice and was of excellent quality and quantity. The area was very pleasant with good bars and cafes a few minutes away. The bastille Metro station was only a 5 minute walk away.
We needed a hotel near the Opera bastille and you cant get much nearer than this just across the road! It is an easy walk to gare de Lyon, minutes from a metro station and right on the marais quarter. So it ticks all the boxes for location. Reception was friendly and helpful and the small public area was clean and attractive. Room was no smaller than any Paris 3* and perfectly adequate size. Bed was queen size and one of the most comfortable we have found in Paris. TV, minibar a decent wardrobe and a couple of chairs. What more do you need. Room was clean and decor fresh, soundproofing excellent and the aircon worked well. Bathroom with a ( rare in Paris) real, if small, bath. toileteries, towels etc all fine. We didnt take the breakfast but it looked good. Free wifi and a useable if slow PC available for guests use
In all the hotel did not disappoint. For a place to stay in a good paris location at a reasonable price I could not fault it
