The museum is in a modern big building. The collection is various. The Gamelan(Indonesian traditional music istrument) has an entrance door. Even you are not a music lover, you will learn better about music instruments. It worths visit.

Pretty far away from central Paris but reachable via Metro. This is a must for music lovers. A basic knowledge of French helps your understanding of titles but is not really necessary if you know what you are looking at.

The collection of instruments is comprehensive, the info screens have also English as option. It is not difficult to get much information even from the French beside the instruments.

The best feature by far, in my opinion, was Musicien au Musée.
I was perhaps super lucky to hear horn player Emmanuel Domergue present his instruments, how the sound originates in them, and how the instrument enhances it. Pavane pour une infante defunte and the other sample tunes were absolutely beautiful.

Plenty of musical instruments displayed, many music samples and videos to listen to with the headphones provided. Today we also had a free wonderful interactive performance of a traditional Mongolian viola da gamba called Morin Khuur. I suggest you have a look at the website before deciding when to go because these performances do not take place every day.
Very good for children too. Reasonably priced at eight euros per adult visitor. One last important information: during the week it opens only at 12:00!

Most beautiful audio tour ever in a museum! Lots of beautiful instruments from everywhere and you can hear them during the audio tour. Anyone who sometimes plays music himself will find this museum interesting and wonderful.
