If you are staying in the 5th or 6th districts this is a wonderful place to have a picnic as do many Parisians.

We came here to relax after a marathon day of touring. The grounds are beautiful - my husband and I both commented in one spot that it was the most perfect grass we had ever seen. But our main objective was the playground for our kids, and they were not disappointed. A small entry fee, and they were entertained for several hours. They playground is completely enclosed and safe/secure and offers plenty of bench seating for parents while the kids run from one activity to another. My kids are 7 and 4 and they both were entertained. We also enjoyed the marionette show and the old carrousel that were right in the same area. Snacks and drinks are available too.

The gardens are extensive and well used by Parisians so a walk through is interesting. They are not fabulously gorgeous gardens like The Serebelloni Gardens in Bellagio, for instance, so I wouldn't rate them as a must see in Paris if you do not have lots of time.

Located a stones throw from the Luxembourg RER station and down the road from the Pantheon is this lovely large garden with wide open spaces and tree lined gravel paths. It is a lovely spot for a walk or a cycle particularly in the first light of morning. There is a palace with manicured gardens and set before a lake. Off to one side is the Fontaine Medicis which is a small water feature with a view up towards the Pantheon.
